A report is dropped into the militia barracks at Recruiter Patrick's desk by Recruit Reyer. It's written very quickly and the ink streaks a little in parts, but it's far from illegible and most of it is neat and clean:
'Sir,
As pertaining to the situation dealing with muggers, an innocent victim, and a tiefling along with a small, unorganized group of adventurers I've compiled a report as requested. I was approached initially by another militiawoman and told that I was assigned to the duty of clearing out bandits from the forest to the north of the Port. I replied as quickly as I could and took her advice, enlisting aid from a few adventurers.
Upon eventually reaching the woods I found the bandits just outside the fort sitting there with the body of a young woman at their feet, who was barely alive at the time. After a short attempt to reason with them, they attacked, nearly killing a drow woman named Aly. Despite this, they were dispatched with some effort. Both the downed females were revived with a little effort and two of those who agreed to aid me carried them back to the Port.
We reported to the temple of Umberlee as swiftly as possible after being spotted by you, Patrick. Aly had shown significant recovery, but the victim still required medical attention. She was healed after a donation to the temple, though the group of adventurers I had enlisted had become rowdy and was beginning to annoy the locals and clergy of the temple. I removed everyone from the temple including the now exceptionally active victim who was accusing a tiefling of stealing five-hundred gold from her and donated roughly three-hundred to four-hundred gold in order to apologize for the disturbance in the holy grounds.
Afterwards I went outside and found myself keeping the victim and group I enlisted from lynching the tiefling. I'd gotten previous reports from others, including Aly and a half-orc named Caleb who had in fact carried the victim back, saying the tiefling was a thief. Naturally I assumed this was true and attempted to reason with the tiefling. After a while it seemed she was in no better modd to talk than the muggers themselves. I believe after a while she began blatantly resisting. Recruiter Patrick, you, were watching about half the while.
From there the tiefling was detained; however, shortly afterwards the victim pulled two blades and attack a grubby looking man who rushed to the gates, but couldn't open them before the barrage began. After repeated warnings, the woman stopped, and the man didn't seem excessively wounded. The victim informed us that he was one of the muggers and it was concluded after some suspicious responses that the tiefling was likely innocent. He was detained and taken for jailing.
In the end it seems the real criminal was detained and the bandits in the forest have been wiped out, at least that specific group. The victim was compensated as fairly as possible, I believe.
Signed,
Recruit Daniel Reyer'
