  • A Letter for the Starweaver

A Thayan knight is sent with a letter to the Viridale border, to deliver it to the hands of the Starweaver on one of her trips in or out of the woods.

    "Ms. Starweaver,

Our talk has left with me a feeling of restlessness and unease. While such a creation as the one we discussed is fascinating and enticing, the sheer level of potential harm cannot be dismissed. I wish to accompany you on your excursion to remove the threat, to see that it is done properly and completely. With your permission, I would like to save a small piece for research, though if you question my motives or intent I will respect your wishes to destroy it completely. Our meeting has convinced me that much of your past life is gone, though I hope your respect for scholarly endeavors still endures and that you see the need to more fully understand and study this matter. If nothing else, your "person of interest" could have unknown contingencies or stockpiles, and a means of countering the menace could only be gleaned by careful investigation.

Regardless of your decision on the matter of sample preservation, I do hope you take me up on my offer to accompany you. My unique skill set, my school of arcane knowledge, and my raw arcane power will all be boons in your mission. If we agree on nothing else on this matter, we agree that the threat to all sentient beings in the valley is too great to ignore. After all, if the valley further destabilizes or suffers greater loss of life, with whom will I be able to conduct business? Please send response via this courier, and please forgive him his trespass into your forest.

    High Arcanist Sandro
    Thayan Enclave, Aquor
I can't slow down, I can't hold back though you know I wish I could. No there ain't no rest for the wicked until we close our eyes for good!

    'Arcanist Sandro,

Your knight has been sent back, I hope, in a single piece. I do not warn people of the dangers of walking heavily without good reason but if he arrives scuffed, I assure you it was not from myself as incredibly odd as his visit was.

I've revewied your letter, and I am personally not against your attendance. However, I have Nora, and the others of the Tuatha to consider. I must also make of you what I hope you can understand to be small demands, that no undead will be summoned, or utilized during this undertaking. For one, Siud forbid, it could bring about greater repercussions then even this wild woman.

However, if you can understand our demands. Though strange as they may seem to a arcanist of the Thayan schools. Then I see no reason why you can not attend with us on this journey. I will do my utmost to present both your company, and your possible research as a benefit if those that I travel with agree as a whole.

I unfortunately can only offer a 'maybe', at this time. I will try to be expedient in drawing a definite answer, but please enjoy the truffles returned with your courier. They're best prepared through baking, sea-salt and a bit of oil I've found.

Warm winds run through Aquor for you, Arcanist Sandro,
The Starweaver, Faidh of the Tuatha'

Unless the knight got hungry, and for some reason snacked on the gift, freshly dug up and lightly kept in earth are the promised mushrooms wrapped in broad leaves.
I can't tell you enough how happy I am to escape.

A letter is quickly sent on to the Enclave the next day, addressed and sealed to find Sandro.

      'High Arcanist Sandro,

Nora is in agreement with our arrangement. Full details will be given as to when, and where our hunt for the Child of Rot shall begin.

I am even pleased enough to inform you you may bring a sample of this disease back with you, to Aquor. Please make sure to bring some manner of container that can safely contain a virulent. I am tasked explicitly with ensuring that whatever comes of any experiments you have is my responsibility.

I do not take responsibility lightly in this. It means should you and your enclave have plans for this, I will be the one to clean things up. However, I know the value of study, and should this ugly mess ever surface again, or if within Leira's mists we should miss some of this filth, it is important we are armed with curative measures to see it quickly wiped out, lest an outbreak should occur.

      I will keep you informed.

May this letter reach you in good health, High Arcanist,
The Starweaver, Faidh of the Tuatha'
