Dearest Father,
It has been too long since I have taken quill in hand to write you about my obligations of faith. I dare say our obligations. Not too long after I arrived by ship to the ports of Sestra, I was met by a true noble of our faith. I felt honored to be in his presence; although I must confess I was chilled to the bone. Our nobles prefer the lofty heights of the Spine as their home. The accommodations are grand. We spoke of such when I was but a wee lad. You were right, they do exceed my expectations.
Unfortunately, not everyone believes in the Blood Prophet as we do. I encountered this bigotry when I took rest at an Inn on the outskirts of the city. Not to belabor the point, the hostility I felt was foreign to me. I decided not to resist, but to put my faith in the Dark Father. His purpose was clear. I was to survive and seek vengeance upon the fallen. Of all the persons I could have met, I encountered one who once walked amongst us; yet, she turned from her faith and sought to kill me unjustly in front of witnesses. Since this attack, I have been careful. Perhaps you would council too careful.
I know… how anyone can remember such an attack if they were in fact killed is suspect. I do not deny the obvious. Nevertheless, I was brought to this plane by a Paladin who sought to question me. His intent was hostile, but his touch was light. You should worry not. In spite of these events I am firmly rooted in our faith and appropriately placed to seek the vengeance obligated by our Masters.
I hope this letter finds you ascending within our church, as I hope to ascend here. Keep the faith and the faith will keep you.
Your loving Son,
Magnus
