  • A poorly written letter slipped under Chime's door

    Hey Chime,

I'm writeing a letter to the office of Emperor Verinus Nautius.
I know when I write things and even when I say things, people take it the wrong way or it seems misleading. I never wrote a letter to anyone important before, well accept for the Big three. If you would rewrite it fixing my poor spelling and grammer. Make it presentable and give it a nice wax seal. get it back to me as soon as possable, and I try to use my Triad rank to push it to the front of the line, So it wont get thrown into the big pile of mail with all of our other efforts. And thanks, your awesome!

    Forever your friend,
    Michael

To Emperor Verinus Nautius or those of his office,

Let me just start with myself, being one who shown brutally, when face to face with evil, regardless of laws. I have not only made myself look bad but also the Triumvirate, as well as the God of mercy. For that Ilmater saw it fit for me to no longer represent him as his paladin.

I only tell you this, for there are rumors of ranking soldiers showing the same kind of brutally to the people in the cheep side. People who are just trying to feed themselves and their families, regardless of laws. I know law and order must be kept, But the brutally is not only giving the individuls a bad name but also the Legion, as well as the Emperor we serve. These rumors are not only within the city, but also like a wildfire they spread to every corner of the valley.

We all stand by your side, regardless. We know and remember who Emperor Verinus Nautius really is. The man who never makes friends with his subordinates, but guiding their growth like a father. The leader who is fought on the front line, side by side with his men, notorious for getting his blade wet in every battle he could, against the bloodmain orcs. The leader who is willing to die next to his men, for the people of this valley, who he protects.

We remember and will never forget the Legionnaires who fought and died holding the line against the banites and their undead, buying as much time as they could for the people to flood into the city before it took flight. If I were to write every story of heroism and sacrifice the Legion has done for the people of this valley, I would be writeing a book, a very very large book.

We honor and respect the leader who holds an over population of refugees and still takes in more, even though there is not enough to go around, because he refuses to throw them out to the wolves, to fend for them selves.

This is why I and my Triad brothers and sisters fight and die for Sundren. The lawful and good society, which Sundren is. Please don't let the few who may be acting outside your will change all we fought and died for.

In your service to whatever end,
    Michael Zollas, Triumvirate

    Michael,

I have told you many times I don’t agree with these letters you write. You are one of my dearest friends however, so I have done as you have asked regardless. But this time I simply cannot do as you desire. This letter I have changed. You are playing a dangerous game; one that, if you are very lucky, will only kill you. Please, if you have any love for me. I beg you to stop.

This last time I have edited the letter you want to send though I believe in my heart I am doing a great wrong indulging you.

    Chime

    To Emperor Verinus Nautius,

I am not perfect Sir. I have made myself, the Triumvirate, and my Lord Illmater look bad many times. I never intended to hurt people, but I too have done my fair share of brutality. It is no secret that when confronted with evil, I turned to the sword more times then I care to admit. And for this, Illmater no long shines his grace on me. Maybe the words of a fallen paladin will not sway you, but I have to try.

The people of Cheapside are dying. Good men and woman as well as rabble rousers that may deserve such a fate. I know law and order must be kept, but right now it is not looking like law and order. It looks like whole sale slaughter of peasants. These people fled the Black Hand for these sorts of tactics. I tell you bluntly Sir, that if this is the answers to the people of Cheapside, then they might as well have stayed below.

Sir, no one has done more for this valley then you. You saved us when no one else could. There is not a man, woman, or child in this city who doesn’t give thanks to the Gods that you are leading us in these troubled times. The people of Cheapside are there by your grace and generosity. I am begging you, not to stay your hand against those who have broken the law, but to show compassion and mercy to those that don’t deserve the fate of the gallows.

    Your Servent,
    Michael Zollas

      Thanks Chime,

I see what you mean by putting others at risk, I am glad that I am now trusting and listening to advice from my friends. I will send the letter you edited, I kinda like it better anyways. Oh, whats does indulging mean, I am not sure what you meant by that.
