A letter to Nicantor Meriadoc

An envelope bearing the van Hellstrom seal is delivered to the Keep in Port Avanthyr. The letter within is written on quality stationary in a firm, but elegant script.

To the Esteemed Lord Nicantor Meriadoc,

I hope this missive finds You in good health and spirits. I am writing to You in direct response to recent events, and requesting a personal meeting.

I shall not mince my words- You, no doubt, know my background and I know You to be a man of action; and we both know pretty words are a nicety that can very often utterly blind one to the very reason they are said. I believe the time is now, My Lord, for lines of communication to be opened between our Houses. I am well aware of the fact there is history between Meriadoc and Van Hellstrom that cannot be erased- nor do I have any intentions of trying to "make right" that which I cannot. However, the future is before Us and that future is not a bright and shining one. To allow the differences between the two Houses render Us unwilling to even treat with one another is a fracture within the infrastructure of the valley we simply cannot afford any longer.

I believe we face a threat, My Lord. One that I can perhaps assist You in shedding light upon. Please consider my request to meet, and do not hesitate to advise me of whether You will consider such. I am, of course, willing to meet at a location of Your choosing- be it the Keep in Port Avanthyr or a more neutral location. Until such time, may the Gods keep and bless You and Yours.

My Lord Meriadoc,

The Triad Ilmateri healer named Charoum requests an audience with your lordship. He expressed sentiment that the Lady Evelyn had been considering reinviting the Legion to the Port, and wishes now to hear your thoughts on the matter. He believes having Legion forces in the Port will assist in offensive operations against the Black Hand, as a staging ground and as a deterrent for Sestra's own military operations. If you've the time to spare, I'm sure he would appreciate just some small amount of time to speak on behalf of his cause.

A return letter makes it's way to the Quartermaster via one of the many Meriadoc guardsmen around the town.

Quartermaster,

Given the absence of Legionnaires in the vicinity of Port Avanthyr during it's most tumultuous confrontations and threats against Our people since the Sundering, We must assume that any return, prospective or otherwise, would be heralded with earth shattering trumpets and a thorough explanation from the Imperatu himself.

As neither letter has come to Our desk nor emissary to these gates, We fail to see any value in the healer acting on their behalf and must refuse such an audience with anyone but actual Legion personnel.
