  • Inquiry to the Iron Council

James entrusts a parchment to Master Ironforge, when he is available, for consideration by the Wurest Clan leadership. It bears similar writing in both the common-trade-language and Gnomish.

To the Esteemed Council of Iron,

Firstly, I wish to apologize for the scripts used for this document, as I do not feel comfortable at this point in attempting eloquence or fidelity of ideas with your native alphabet or grammar.

Secondly, and the request at hand, I seek your permission for exploratory analysis of the libraries and automatons within the Lower Ruins. It is my intention to attempt to further my own knowledge, but would gladly share and discuss any findings or material discovered during such an expedition, and would welcome any oversight, assistance, or other such input from the Council regarding the venture. If required, I would be willing to locate references of character or other collateral. Funding and materials can also be provided at the Council's behest.

Your consideration in this matter is greatly appreciated.
    Sincerely,
    Artifax J. Frazer

*Angus opens the parchment and then reads it*

Hmm... lower ruins? Tis be an issue for Master Glyir.

*Angus writes a new missive and then folds his over the original.*

    Glyir,

Master James requests the Iron Council's approval to enter the Lower Ruins. What is your opinion on this matter?

    For Kin and Clan,
    Ironforge
    Cheers!

      Councilor Angus

As to entry into the Lower Ruins, that decision was made long ago, as you know. To keep dangers beneath from our halls the entry is kept open. And we pay for such aid with the stolen heritage that adventurers may claim. Such is the price of our endurance.

But as he states plain, it is not mere entry that he seeks. He seeks to craft constructs of his own. The human realms have their own craft in such matters, but he is cunning or greedy enough to seek the lore of our ancestors.

You have spoken of his worth. And I will not deny that Elfkind are less prey to the failings of spirit than others. Though it would shame my birthclan for an Age were they to hear me admit it. Our cooperation in such matters may yet preserve the life of our clan, should he endure the perils beneath the cold stone.

Pride is ever the failing of wizards. That they ever wont after that which may be best left alone. I suggest we accede to his requests, but under supervision. That dwarfsense may shield us all from folly. The Schild holding shall again prove it's worth in this regard, keeping kin distant from arcane error.

We may yet be called to account for our decisions with our heritage. Be it to the Temples, the Kings of the eastern holds or the Hammers of Moradin. To answer this future I say that James must agree to not give his own personal work the semblance of dwarfcraft, any clay constructs in particular. And he must not use the runesets of our ancestors, unless as part of our own projects. Let his work be his own, not a pale copy of the kincraft beneath.

*Angus, after listening to the sage advise of the Barakor, he decides to submit the letter to the issue to the Iron Council for consideration. A summary of the issue and Glyir's remarks are presented."

The Barakor's recommendations are wise. Does anyone else have anything they care to add?
        Cheers!

          Dryn nods and adds,

"Glyir has spoken my views on this matter. I would require further that James agree to bear what secrets he discovers in the Stone's silence. While we may deem James worthy of our trust, he must not communicate freely of what he learns."

"Our heritage is sacred and it is by the vigil of Moradin's children that Dumathoin's realm is kept."

            Krya adds.

"Councilor Ironforge has spoken for him and so it is we seek his aid. It seems an odd coincidence that he has chosen this exact time to make his request, when it is us who also need his aid in uncovering the needed lore to begin recovery of the lost halls."

Brunus and I shall supervise his delving. But certainly having Glyir to keep watch and the skilled eyes of Rurik would be a blessing."

*Angus nods and looks to Dyrn*

My Thane... this matter appears settled then. Thank you all for considering Master James' request. I will inform him to seek out Sister Krya and Brother Brunus for further instructions.

              *Angus steps back*
              Cheers!
