  • A Missive for Presea De'Ombre

    Presea,

It is no mistaking the fact of my failings, I can but ask only your patience and allowance for what I must do. The holy symbols I have sent with this letter, should they reach you carry with them the weight of my own transgressions. I am no longer worthy of bearing either trapping or blade of the orders. I seek penance and will remain in silent supplication and vigil until I find clarity. I beg you do not seek me out but instead see to the spiritual and physical well being of those harmed in the valley by misdeed.

In rash action I did strike at a foe I thought to be a dark elf who had given me cause to look with the sight of Tyr, and seeing the darkness in their soul I did strike without thinking. A man may act on such and be understood, responding to a potential enemy flanking them. As a Knight I am responsible for keeping others from making such mistakes, and honor demands a foe is of equal standing strength and armaments. I did none of these things and have brought myself, the church, and most regrettably you dishonor for bearing my name.

May the Gods have mercy of my soul,

Your loving husband and humble servant of the Three,

    Faucon De'Ombre
    Ghal Narish, Battle-Mage
    Faucon De'Ombre
    , Triadic Knight

    Ulriel Gabrieth, Devout of Lathander
    Noril De'nor, Archer ...
Liem Ashcroft, Miner, Smith, and Weaponsmaster

Presea wandered through the Temple shared by the Triadic faiths in search of her husband. He was not in the Hall of Worship, the Hall of Endurance, nor the Hall of Courage. She opens the door to the armory. Her brow creased slightly as she peered inside. Faucon was not within but something was different. After a moment, she realized what it was: two armor stands and a chest covered with black gossamer cloth. She moved deeper into the the room, and her fingers brushed over the dark film covering the mithril dress armor. She read the note left with her love's belongings, finding but a transcription of his Knightly Oath. She turned and rushed from the room, down the hall and to the front doors.

As the woman pried the heavy door open, she spied an urchin on the steps clutching a scroll tied with red ribbon and three charms. She took a deep breath, then smiled to the boy. "Hello, may I help you?"

The boy swallowed, and handed over the delivery. "Yes, ma'am. Man sent me to brin' this to the temple, and to ask for a meal."

Presea nodded, looking at her name on the scroll written in a familiar hand, bound with her husband's holy symbols. "Then, come inside, and let us eat together."

Later, after the boy had eaten not only the plate he had been served, but half of food from her own plate as well, Presea finally opened the letter to find out what happened. She murmured after reading the words, "As you wish, love, but come home soon."

Presea returned to the small room they had taken in the temple barracks, and changed from her usual armor into a simple black robe. Once back down in the Hall of Worship, she knelt in prayer to the Three to guide her husband's penance and to bring him back to her and the temple that needed him. Finally, she departed the temple herself.
