Pioneer Way

The danger of traveling along the Pioneer's way seems to have gotten much worse in the past week. I have walked along the road and been waylaid several times. I took it upon myself to talk and work with the Legionnaires, giving healing wraps and throwing a few punches in for good measure.

I do not know if my efforts will help in any great way, but I will try and provide relief to the men and women guarding this vital route and the travelers using the dusty road to go to and fro.

Templar Dovenian,

I continue to walk the pioneer trail and today I was able to help a man by the name of Carson. He was beset by bandits and before the legion could offer assistance, he was injured and his goods were stolen. I bandaged his wounds, gave him a bit of food, and a few coins and then sent him on his way.

Please, I do not mean this as a slight to the legion. They are undermanned and do the best they can. They were able to apprehend all but one of the highwaymen.

I have walked the many miles along the Pioneer's way and nursed many back to health after encounters with bandits. They are thick upon the hard packed earth and the legion can only do so much.

A rumor I have heard may have some merit and I wanted to warn you. Some in the legion have encountered figures cloaked and hooded. They skulk about, having equipment much more sophisticated than that used by mere bandits. They walk about the Pioneer way, avoiding contact. I am unsure of who they are, but it warrants some investigation.

I have heard reports of a hin and two masked figures harassing travelers for their goods. Specifically, that it is a female hin, a male human, and a male of orc blood. Stay alert for such a trio and know that these are likely those that you have mentioned in your past notes. Report on any sightings of the trio so that we may establish a pattern and deal with this problem. Stay vigilant and may the Three guide you.

Templar Dovenian,

I have roamed the Pioneer's way for a day and night, keeping primarily to the shadows, rocks, and foliage. Of bandits, there are many, of the three you specified in your note, I have not seen. I will continue my patrols and provide any information I can.

One question. If I do come across the trio, what are your instructions. Do you wish me to follow them to their lair, accost interrogate them, or seek the legion to apprehend?

I await your instructions.

I have not seen the two brigands you described to me before. I have patrolled the Pioneer's way for many days now; only the usual bandits have I seen thus far.

I will continue my vigil and report on any unusual activity.
