The grey wolf entered the Druids Glade and paused briefly, its muzzle pointed up at the sky as it sniffed out the Keeper. It padded silently over the grass and lowered its head submissively as it approached him. A leather cord, tied loosely around the wolf's neck and strung with a rolled up parchment was plainly visible.
Mere seconds after the leather cord was removed from its neck, the wolf sped away, its shadowy form disappearing into the trees like a wisp of fog.
The letter is simply written, free from errors for the most part, but without much flourish:
Dear Keeper,
Forgive me for not speaking to you in person. I cannot come at the moment, but there was no way I was going to wait on informing you of something that happened in Viridale Forest. Deep within that wood, there is a structure of some sort. Two massive stone guards stand at attention on either side of the structure's door. I know not what this structure is, and it is irrelavant. I simply wanted to relate my location to you, Keeper.
I spent some time there with a friend, and then some time there alone. As I was preparing to leave, I saw a vision? Or was it real? I cannot say for certain, but I saw a figure nearly identical to my own. I say nearly, because this figure's eyes were pools of black emptiness. I pray to Silvanus my eyes do not look like that.
Needless to say, I was completely shocked. I stared at this figure for many moments, before engaging it in conversation. I would relate to you all the details of our conversation, Keeper, were I there with you. However, there are certain aspects of it I am not comfortable putting in writing, as there is always a chance this letter will not make it to you unread.
When I arrive at the Glade, I will tell you everything. For now, I must relate to you at least this, for it is urgent. This figure warned me that sometime soon, the land would be wreathed in darkness and the forest would wither and die. I tried to question the figure, but could not get very much more than that. It mentioned a Dark Lord, but I will discuss that part of the conversation with you as soon as I get there.
Please remain as vigilant as you always are, and if you see fit, warn those entering the glade of this unknown threat. I am frightened, Keeper. I have come to love this land, especially now that the Circle has opened its arms to me. I cannot stand the thought of anything or anyone harming the place I have come to call home.
Nature's Faithful Servant,
Rosalyn Leafall
