May I congratulate you, your General and yours on finally getting your hands on a promising seam of metal. I know as much as anyone the cost and dangers faced, but what you've already done is above and beyond what many others could have. I need hardly point to the Mirakus mine as an example.
Exigo will be right keen on getting more of their barley in the vat, so to speak, so I've got some options for ongoing help I'm sure you'll want to consider.
A. TERMS OF REMUNERATION
Exigo's provided a good load of supplies to help start you off, far as I can see.
We've got our own contract between the Skullcleavers and the Stouthammer Brewery, which will be continuing. But I'm sure you'll want some help from the rest of Exigo.
If you want, you can try and pay for as much as possible in coin and later in dwarvencraft. This will cost you more upfront.
Otherwise, you can accept assistance for naught, or nearly so. However, Exigo will probably want a bigger stake in the hold or the finished product.
Or try a bit of both. Founding a hold would tax even the Skullcleavers' resources, and things will go much smoother with outside help. I reckon how much outside help you seek is the biggest question you face.
B. EXIGO ASSISTANCE
Here's some things we can do for you. Just tell us what your needs are.
1. SUPPLIES AND BUILDING MATERIALS
No better deal than Exigo. Why haul rations to Whurest, then back down again to the Schild. Plus you'll probably want charcoal or coal for the forges unless you can find wherever the Veritas got theirs from or setup magical forges. Plus more lumber for beams for all those loose ceilings. Plus the other hundred-and-one things you'll need.
2. EXIGO LABOUR AND ENGINEERS FOR RECONSTRUCTION
We've already got a few of the lads on site. We can keep them there, and even send a few more, at your request. They'll need protection, especially when they're inside the hold.
3. EXIGO MINERS AND SMITHS
Now, I'm sure you'll want to run things yourselves in the old style. But if you want to equip an army you may want more hands than Whurest can muster. Exigo will be keen as a parched delver in a brewery to slide it's lads into your seams, as you can see from all the keen lads posted to Whurest. Just yell out if you need them.
4. OTHER MATTERS
I'm assuming you'll want Exigo caravans in due course for your trade goods, just like at Whurest.
There may be a few ways Exigo innovations can help you once things are more setup. I'm sure we'll have a chance to talk more in the months to come.
If you want anything special, such as an Exigo construct or two to help with defence, I can approach the higher-ups about terms.
I'm sure you'll want to handle negotiations with the Blackwood or other parties yourselves if you're needing a few extra axe-arms for special tasks. But we can do it for you if you get tied up with other matters.
On this matter I've already forwarded the sum of 5000 stags to Master Maishar in remuneration for his services during the expedition. With your permission I can subtract it from your account, which is still well in credit.
C. MY PERSONAL RECOMMENDATIONS
Exigo's got a stake in things already, from it's current deal for selling dwarven wares in the valley to a secure supply of dwarven metal for Master Readan's innovations. With the space already promised to Exigo for the Innovations division, Exigo will be forging on site eventually.
You might as well try to get something more in return than what you've already got. I'd consider accepting help setting up, such as building materials and labour.
But I'd try to keep control of the mining yourselves. Trade coin and later dwarvencraft for rations, charcoal and the like.
There ain't naught about security I can say that you and yours don't already know, so I'll defer to the Skullcleavers on that matter.
Yours in Good Ale
