  • A note written in haste, addressed to Kai

    *a folded and sealed parchment left with the owner at the four lanterns, with instructions that it be passed to Kai Nightwind at the earliest opportunity, and a gold coin for doing so*

    *clearly written in haste, but in a clear, plain, unadorned hand...the writing of someone who knows that the purpose of words is to carry meaning, not to decorate the surface of a page*

    Kai,

    I have been searching for you this day but could not find you. I would seek your advice.

    Yestereve I visited the camp of the miners in the Sharahan hills. On travelling a little further into the hills, I was met by a warrior - a half-orc of considerable proportion, but little wit.

    We fell into conversation - simple speech, after the manner of many of his kind - but he stumbled perhaps in his thought, and revealed things he had maybe been bidden keep secret.

    He spoke of a 'master', one in red and black armour, his face always covered, and at first I dismissed this as merely an example of a simple hireling being cowed by an employer with a desire to overawe. But then he spoke further of what this master had bidden him do - to slay elves, and men, and to leave tokens at the scene as if they had fought one another - and he spoke also of this master raising the bodies of the slain as dead-that-walk, practicing the dark arts of necromancy. He spoke further, and this I scarce believed - that this master treated openly with a daemon, and that further killing was planned.

    I thought not that this warrior, Vurg by name, had the wit to invent such fables, and I fear he speaks only the simple truth as best as he understands it. He spoke also of meeting you in the forest, and being questioned by you, on a time when he had been sent to hunt for elves to slay - so you may know something of this already.

    He gave the name of this master as 'Jordan' - although the crude manner of his speech makes this something of a guess of my own - the gutteral syllables of the half orcs have but little merit for conveying subtle tones, and I may have mis-heard.

    I would take this to the Sundren authorities, or the church, but I am as yet unused to the intricacies of politics within the city, and do not know the person best to treat with. Also, I fear such scant evidence as this would be met with scorn, or disbelief - you, however, know me enough to know the manner of person I am, and that I would not speak falsely in this matter.

    I would be guided by you in this, if you are of a mind to do so.

    Yours in friendship and trust,
    Ula.

    ~~~~~ o ~~~~~
    Ula Fey,
    To begin this letter, I would like to thank you for your correspondance. Your information, in correlation to our own has prompted some conclusions on my part but understand that the only evidence in support of these conclusions is based solely upon the intelligence of the Vigilant Eye as well your own.
    Before your correspondance, the information that we had in regards to this supposed "Necromancer" along with the half-orc Vurg was trivial at best. In due credit, the Vigilant Eye who made the report was thorough in his writing. It is the fact that we had but one report as to the issue and thus, conclusions hardly able to be solidly drawn.
    Now, to the case and point. There are a few necromancers and individuals that may be our Jordan the necromancer...
    1. Casper, a young man in his late teenage years of which I will adamantly note is hardly a child by any means. He has been seen on two counts, one of which personally from my eyes utilizing undead in his inclined dealings... <the words go on to describe a man that you will recognize in-game as 'Ewan Rice'>
    2. The recent drow attacks upon the adventurers and travellers of the valley have been confirmed and seen to wear red and black armor. Thus, any of these drow in particulate could be the culprit in question. it is perhaps also important to note (even if this is a bit steriotypical) that I encountered a dark-elf some days back in the hills donning black and red trimmed robes. He was being escorted by one Maia Nantheniel (who to note has a known hatred for elves so as you can see this leads to certain suspicions). When I attempted to question either of them on the matter they made haste and fled the area.
    3. Recent reports and intelligence indicate that an elven necromancer of the Dark Advent by the name of Syndic has been about. This necromancer has been seen on several occasions and wearing black and grey shaded robes... <words go on to describe the face and apperance of Syndic>
    Those are the prevalent three that come to mind. As you are no doubt aware anyone could always change their name or otherwise in dealing with others. So Jordan, although ringing no direct bell in my mind, could simply be a front made by any of these three. Or otherwise.
    I hope this information assists you in your investigation, it is not often I made guild intelligence known but I have come to trust you in the times and I only ask Miss Fey, that you keep myself informed should you discover anything further in regards to this issue in the future as well as any threats you might otherwise find.
    Thank you again, your letter and information has helped immensely,
    Vigilance,
    Commander Kai Nightwind.
