  • [Letter] To Evelyn Meriadoc

    Lady Evelyn Meriadoc
    Avanthyr Hold

    Miss Meriadoc

Looks like we have not yet chanced to meet. And that's a shame, because there is plenty of things my brewing can offer your Inn and your Port. If you like we can start on some negotiating by correspondence.

As we discussed, I can offer fine brews for your establishment and your lads. In particular, I can offer some of my latest batch of dwarven siege ale, modified slightly for local tastes. A thick, nourishing brew, I call it "Hold Ale", so as not to put off those of more delicate disposition. And it has substantially more sustenance packed into it's thick rich taste than the boiled carrots that are the usual fare.

I am sure that with this on offer, in addition to some more everyday fine ale, hardened adventurers from across the realm will beat a path to your door. And hopefully they'll beat the road free of bandits and other threats to trade while they're about it.

This is of course just one of the many fine products Stouthammer Brewing can offer.

In return my primary need is for a structure suitable for use. Anywhere I put my kegs and vats is a brewery, but the Port offers the prospect of getting hold of ingredients from well outside Sundren, and maybe even exporting. My need here is modest based on my current output. Part of a warehouse should suffice for now.

Plus security is an ongoing concern. They'll have trouble swiping me vats, but I remember well how the Exigo warehouse full of those plush dolls burnt down in Port Avanthyr all those months ago. Busted kegs means less ale in the inn, and less work and trade for your Port. Having your lads check in on the place as they do their rounds would be a prerequisite.

Stone and good ale preserve you

    Mister Stouthammer,

You have the attention of the Lady Meriadoc. I would speak to you in person at your earliest convenience regarding the matter.

    One Step Ahead,
    Julian Esler
    Retainer, House Meriadoc
Additionally, the dwarf's own letter is also returned -with a minor 'correction'.

      Master Julian

I have confered with the higher-ups, and I can assent to your proposed terms. You can have your deed and papers done. Or I can have the legal clerks at headquarters write up the contract papers if you wish.

We will certainly be chatting with your innkeep in due course about supplying your customers. I suspect you'll see a great saving in transport costs, just one of the many benefits Stouthammer Brewing can bring to your town.

If you want an exclusive supply contract for a promising product or two, to be available only in your tavern and help draw in the crowds, then we can negotiate for that as you wish.

      Stone preserve you
