Sent out from the LaCroix estate to the associated family members of house Aurelianus.

Cousins, uncles, aunts and grandparents,

A moment is asked for your silence and consideration of the events that have unfolded in the past months. Baring the fall of the legion and the legions grip on the country, many have found themselves under the tyrannical grip of the black hand. Through our shared wealth falls well outside their grip through the liquid trade routes, private companies and protection of the now afloat city... A matter of delicate though important business remains to be overseen; that being our holdings in the farmland surrounding Sestra. I would ask a gathering, both in spirit of discussing where we are moving forward as a noble house, and to take some measure of comfort in the presence of family.

The courier carrying the note finds Marcarius Aurelianus at his room in the Four Lanterns, where he is waiting for a response to his request for a pass into the city. As the courier stands by, he examines the family crest carefully to verify its authenticity. Once satisfied, he opens it and reads slowly.

After having read the entire note, he looks to the courier. "Please wait a moment while I pen a response."

He retrieves a piece of parchment, a quill, and a burning candle from a desk and begins writing.

Niece Lynnette,

I am currently lending what aid I can to the people of Sundren that have taken refuge at the Gate of the Sunderer. However I realize that in order to continue to carry out our good works, the resources and standing of our family must be preserved. I will of course attend your gathering at whatever time you deem appropriate. Though the roads are dangerous, I believe I can safely make the trip to the estate of our esteemed La Croix allies.

He seals the note with wax from the candle and impresses upon the hot wax his family seal. He then entrusts it to the courier for delivery to Lynnette.

A brief and unverified note makes return from Esmond after passing through multiple hands, no show of the Aurelianus crest anywhere to be seen.

My troop was cut off from the bulk of our men during the fighting, many are still unaccounted for.
I will endeavor to make contact when my men have been found and brought to safety or afforded their final rites.
