James,
I've decided to take a position of optimism on whether or not this message
reaches you. Its delivery is the first errand I have entrusted to my new
familiar-- somewhat uncreatively dubbed Mud II. Its predecessor met an
unfortunate end after an encounter with a Sharran artifact some weeks ago.
I have charged the Hormunculus to seek out a handsome mage possessed of
superior wit and charm most-likely occupying a hedge. As I can think of no
more fitting description for you, my friend, any failure in the task must be
attributed to some flaw in Mud II's design and the unfortunate initiate whom I
pressured into aiding me in its creation.
Regardless, I write seeking your aid and learned counsel. This valley seems in
many ways a catalyst in unlocking whatever strange abilities are stored within
my blood. Each awakened ability seems stronger than the last, and with them
I feel a greater influence upon me from some hereditary instinct. Do not let
this last statement worry you James; I am in no danger of losing myself.
However, I do have a growing desire to understand the source of my abilities,
and explore whatever colorful linage granted this 'gift' to me. I had hoped, my
friend, for your aid in this matter. I have little talent for divination, and
between us, you are by far the greater scholar.
My gratitude for whatever guidance or assistance you can provide. I'm sure
Aurora sends her best as well. I see far too little of her these days as she's
been consumed by the legion and its endless obligations.
Optimistically,
~H
