Centurio Blackwell,
Please find my report of an encounter that just transpired. I realize I am not a member of the Legion, but I felt it my duty to report to you.
Date of event: [Today]
Witnesses: Samak Nerinide
While seated outside the Second Wind Inn a woman approached me. She offered no introduction, but after some bothersome interjections from her side, she proclaimed herself to be a Legionnaire, and advised me to leave the region as soon as possible. She was willing to escort me to Port Avanthyr.
While I responded to her that I had no intentions of leaving, and that if I had any such I would make use of the teleportation spells of my House's wizards, the mage Nerinide appeared via magical means.
When he heard of the woman's introductions, he claimed she had been stripped of rank. The young woman (Sile, I learned her name to be) protested, saying she had rank until she had written letters of some kind. A debate ensued.
I informed the young woman that it is likely the Legion maintains a death penalty for falsely claiming to hold a position within the Legion if such were not true. She appeared confused at this. At that moment I concluded she may well have some form of mental disturbance, and decided to be as clear as possible.
I stated to her my full name and my allegiance as a Spellmaiden and Acolyte of the Great Watcher, Helm. Then, I informed her formally and in no uncertain terms that she was potentially risking death if she was mistakenly continued to introduce herself as a Legionnaire, and asked if she would answer yes or no to the question that she had understood.
At this point the young woman appeared to go mad, ignoring me and shouting at mage Nerinide. I informed her that ignoring my statement did not mean she had not heard, that silence was assent in this matter, and proclaimed that from this moment forward, ignorance would no longer be a defense.
She subsequently stormed off.
