  • To Peridan Twilight, from Maia

Correspondence reaches Centurio Peridan Twilight while he is on duty at the Arbiter's Stand. The letter is short, the message written in espruar, the elvish tongue.
    "Peridan,

we have been apart for some time now. I long to see you.

You've been keeping yourself very busy with your duties in the Mossdale, and I might be equally at fault with how I've spent much of my time deeper in the woods.

I'll admit the petty thought of being afraid you may have grown to resent a bit how I made things difficult for you in the Legion. Forgive me; I know you've assured me that wasn't the case before... but I'm still afraid of you thinking it.

Our time apart is not only your doing, though. I've spent perhaps too much time deep within the woods. But it wasn't you I was staying away from. It was the Wardens. Ever since they elevated Kaizen, I no longer trust in my heart that I can depend on them. I coudn't bear up with it silently any longer though, so, I sent word to Iauron. Hopefully, he'll be more understanding than furious...

Ugh... who am I kidding? I do expect he'll be mostly furious at me for not sharing as much of his staunch conviction in the Keeper. This is just... so very vexing!

I know you have your duty, but can you write back to me? Elren still collects letters for me, so, you can send word to me this way.

    Corellon protect you,

    ~ Maia

P.S.: helped your friend Legionnaire Emiliana today in dealing with a Bloodmaim camp concealed in the Sharahan woods. Those are siege engines you won't have to worry about. Yay me!"

A messenger leaves from the Centurio's encampment, bearing a letter.

    Maia,

These are dark times, for our people and the N'Tel’Quessir alike. The Bloodmaim threat has risen like a dark tide, battering our shores endlessly. My soldiers are weary, their souls pale and flickering things to the once vibrant and hardy men and women.

I'll confess, I have not seen another Tel'Quessir in some time, much less your own fey countenance. My mind and soul have grown tired, and this war I fear will never end. Despite the many efforts of the Legion, I cannot help but have the dark wings of foreboding settle on my shoulders like some grotesque raven. I look around Arbiter's, and I can see only the skeletal hands of Myrkul slowly creeping into my ahkiilor.

The night draws near, my kehrareth olkiir . I can only pray to the Seldarine that you remain safe.

    Scrawled at the bottom:

As I Would Think, so Shall Ye; As I Would Feel, so Shall Ye; As I Would Do, so Shall Ye; As I Would Not Harm, Nor Shall Ye; As I Would, so Shall the Clan; As the Clan Would, so Shall I; As We Would, so Shall Ye. The People are as One, and Never Shall I Stray From This, Nor Shall Ye, For to Digress is to Diminish You and Your People
