Harbinger,
We searched my room, per your directive, and found a stone with runes carved into it. It is a scrying and teleportation focus, apparently capable of supporting the transfer of a large number of men. It was left in my room: a sophisticated attempt on my life. We've buried it in Shar's Abaddon, where magic cannot reach it, and subtly marked it so we can find it again, until you offer direction concerning it.
A second assassin attempted my life at my inn room at the Sundren Comfort; at knife point, he forced one of the maids to call out to clean my room. When I opened the door, he slew her, vanished into shadow, and emerged and stabbed me. I might have perished, if not for the healing efforts of Priya Sera - head of the Sunite temple, and my lover - and some sort of assistance from Wrath Eternal. The sword yet lacks a pommel, and it reveals abilities to me - restoring life to the slain, weakening the undead, giving forth healing - and then hides them; I can't seem to harness its true power.
In any case, I will no longer stay in public quarters, despite the morale I'd hoped to instill in the citizenry; two people have been slain at the Comfort on my account. I plan to write to Lucius LaCroix and ask that he arrange quarters for me there; the LaCroix soldiers are well-trained against assassins and the undead, and it will be easier to develop their estate on site.
I will meet with you at your earliest convenience, to discuss all these things and our next move.
In faith and service,
