  • Letter to the Twin Sunites

    Fellow High Priestesses,

I wish to discuss with you the deeds and actions of one whom you keep in high respect, Johanna, a follower of Tymora. Who spends much time here and plays her games in the temple. I find her guilty of consorting with enemies of our temple, our faith, and the sacralage of marriage and love. I would like to bring these things to your attention and suggest a ban on her entering this temple.

    High Priestess, Amilynn Steles

  • #2
Brianna sits in her quiet finely decorated personal quarters of the temple before a canvas that holds a painting coming to fruition. She holds in one hand a palette of paints while the other carries a brush carefully adding color to the work of art. Just as she is dabbing more crimson to the work, her door flies open creating a glaring racket that starts the priestess, causing her steady hand to deviate from it's careful course. A smear on the painting emerges.

She looks over to the frantic Adrianna that rushed into the quarters with a letter in hand, unannounced... as usual.

Adrianna's voice holds all the sound of urgency she can muster as she speaks, "Brianna! This is an emergency! You have to see this! Amilynn is trying to have my Johanna evicted from the temple!"

Brianna sighs as she looks at the mistake in her painting that she knows she'll have to correct. She is accustomed to her sister spouting words of utter doom when the matters are often trivial, so she does not give into the same sense of urgency. However, her sister is always one of the most important facets of her life, so she sets aside her palette for now to listen to the woman.

"Calm down, Adrianna. I'm sure it's not as bad as you believe," she speaks.

Adrianna shoves the letter before Brianna in turn, her face showing a great deal of concern, "She wants us to agree to ban Johanna! She's says she's our enemy!"

Brianna takes the letter from Adrianna's hand, reading over it carefully before she speaks a single phrase, "Oh dear..."

"See?! You have to do something!"

"Amilynn hasn't done anything yet, Adrianna, don't be so worried. You know as well as I Johanna isn't our enemy."

"You have to do something!" Adrianna explains, as she pleads with Brianna.

"Alright, alright, I'll write a letter to Amilynn, and we'll get this whole thing sorted out."

Brianna moves to her desk and pulls from it a blank parchment as she takes the quill from her desk in hand. She touches ink to the page, writing with all the flourish of someone practiced in calligraphy.

    ----

    Dearest sister Amilynn,

I have received your letter and I confess it fills both me and my sister with sorrow to hear this is the best course of action in the matter. Johanna has been a loving and dear friend to both myself and Adrianna. I am well aware that there are many rumors outstanding against Johanna and I am certain it is these rumors that give base to your concern.

We are more than willing to discuss this matter with you, both Adrianna and my---"

    ----

Adrianna interjects as she reads Brianna's writing, "Why did you write that?! I'm not willing to discuss it!"

Brianna's attention falls upon Adrianna, "Adrianna, you're being difficult. Don't you have love for Amilynn as your sister?"

Adrianna settles a bit as she speaks, "Of course I do."

Brianna nods and goes back to the writing as she speaks, "Then let us communicate with one another and come to an agreement. I know it's hard, Adrianna, but Johanna has upset a lot of people, whether she's aware of it or not. And we can't just pretend like none of that matters."

Adrianna sighs just before she whines to Brianna, "But none of that DOES matter."

    ----

    self.

However, I urge you to consider what our goals are as priestesses. We are to inspire love, unity, and compassion in everyone. This includes a willingness to look beyond the faults of others and seek first a joy between us. If Johanna is indeed wayward as rumors claim, would the loving course be to simply eject her from our midst and abandon her to those who will surely pull her further away from the path of well being? Sune encourages us to even accept among ourselves even those disparate to our own faith.

If we do not practice what we preach to others, how can we ourselves claim to be of the lady who has reached out to others that held darkness close to them, such as the Maiden Sharess.

Let us invite Johanna to speak with us as well and see if we cannot all bring a closer unity between ourselves instead of working to cut off someone who has been a dear friend.

    With love,
    Brianna Emanuelle.

    ----

Adrianna looks over Brianna's shoulder and nods in satisfaction, "You have such a beautiful mind, Brianna. I could kiss you! ... In fact, I will!"
