  • To the Directors of the Exigo Syndicate

    Greetings,

My name is Priya Sera, and I am writing in regards to the recent operation taking place in the Viridale Forest to harvest timber. Some unfortunate events have taken place, seeming to revolve around the druids in residence, and I would like to offer you a business proposal that will benefit the Syndicate.

My proposal will increase your profits while simultaneously reverse the somewhat negative impact these events have had on the company's public image. I have ensured that a representative of the forest wardens are ready and willing to meet with you and discuss the matter on neutral ground.

I would like to meet with you at your earliest convenience to consider this.

    Yours sincerely,

    Priya Sera

    Priya,

My heartfelt thanks for your recent correspondence on the matter of our operations in the Viridale.

I must express some small degree of confusion at some points of your letter, and I’m afraid I’ve had to make some base assumptions.

For instance I assume the ‘Unfortunate incident’ you refer to in the first paragraph is the coldblooded murder of two of our employees by agents claiming to speak for the Wardens; or perhaps the massacre of some twenty plus of our men and women by creatures summoned and controlled by the self same forces of the Wardens. Or perhaps it refers to the massacre of our miners in the Sarahan hills?

I also assume the ‘Negative Impact’ you mention refers to the increase in difficulty we now have in recruiting employees. This seems to have been caused by the happy-go-slaughter attitude the so called ‘Peace Loving’ druids seem to wave around with such gay abandon.

Previously a suggestion has been forwarded by some that we might be soothed by the offering of ‘fallen timber’. A notion so laughably insane that if I were to think it was an actual, serious, suggestion then I may have had to re-label the Viridale as an asylum for the utterly insane. I’m sure I’ve no need to explain to someone such as yourself that good quality structural timber rarely drops from trees without being in some way flawed or rotten.

However, seeing as you wish to mediate between us; a legitimate business concern with full governmental and public backing, and the druids; a rogue and terrorist organisation that considers itself above both the law and reproach, I feel I must at least attempt to bring some civilisation to the backward and inbred forest dwellers.

To this effect I will dispatch one of our legal agents to negotiate with you and the druids agents.

Neutral ground will of course be needed, for my part I would suggest somewhere such as the Sundren Gate.

I look forward to your reply.

    Many regards,

    Adrian Readen.

      Master Readen,

I am glad to hear that the Syndicate is prepared to negotiate on the matter with the forest wardens, despite fundamental differences. The willingness on the part of the druids and your company gives me hope that a mutually beneficial arrangement can be reached.

Rest assured, I see the inherent flaw in the suggestion of fallen timber, and am prepared to put forth a far more reasonable, profitable solution. The opening up of communication between your two parties will surely develop understanding of one another's needs. Also, please be sure that I mean to address reparations for the lost lives of your employees and their families.

The Gate of the Sunderer is an excellent suggestion, and I will send a time as soon as it can be arranged.

      Yours,
      PS

        Priya,

My heart is warmed further by your understanding of our situation, I'd always assumed the druids had some terrible plot in mind with their suggestion of fallen timber - Perhaps the failure of some main structural timbers in an orphanage is like sweet nectar to their bitter and twisted terrorist minds.

I am also glad you seek to bring good and just closure for the families and friends of those who were so brutally and casually murdered by these so-called wardens. Once justice has been done we can all move on, both with our lives and as a society.

I feel I must iterate that this is not a matter of profit; I am no ancient red wyrm wishing to roll about in a giant vault of gold, far from it Priya. I am an agent of change. Of progress. I have seen what our future is my dear, and I work tirelessly to bring it to fruition. We can have a better world, and it is not the place of handful of small-minded Luddite's to prevent us all from attaining the place we deserve.

I shall have my man briefed and awaiting your word.

        Kindest regards,

        Adrian Readen
