News of an assault on Sestra has broken throughout the nation of Sundren. While the Legion soldiers seem somewhat upbeat in the aftermath, many of the witnesses in Mirakus feel the assault was a lost battle.

A unit of one hundred Legion soldiers lead an assault on the reptile army in Sestra, flanked with Red Blades, mercenaries, and volunteers. The unit started their march from Mirakus Post. They caught the reptiles off-guard, gaining some initial ground in the city of Sestra with an assault from the northern gate.

However, the reptile army was more sizable than anticipated. The assault team was soon turned back by a force at least four times as large as their own. Quick leadership saved many lives in the assault, and the unit suffered very few casualties in the retreat.

    More rumors surround this assault:
    • The Corsairs were notably missing from the assault team. Witnesses in Mirakus claim the Legion soldiers insulted the Corsairs who had originally volunteered, and the militia men left over the argument that ensued.
    • The Legion was bolstered by support from rustic northern tribes, who howled and cried for blood through the assault.
    • The Legion soldiers who participated seemed very "green" to many on-lookers. Some claim they were newly-trained, initially designed as a peace-keeping force and not an assault team.
    • The reptiles have taken the dead from the assault unit and put them on stakes. At the front of this display is a Legion medical officer, whose head dangles from his red cloak like a rock in a sling between two pikes. The gruesome display is clearly a warning and a show of strength.

A large gray wolf circles along the backtrail picking off any lone snakemen after the battle.

He had warned them the Leeza tribe would fight for the land they now owned. It was plain to see they had marked it as theirs. All the talka in the world wouldn't change that, they would fight to the death to keep it.Fullgrin knew he would have done the same had the wolf tribe claimed it.

He approved of the heads, it was a sign that the Leeza tribe were willing to go to lengths the humans obviously weren't. A good thing the Wolf Tribe had joined this battle he thought as his senses picked up another patrol and he slunk along the trail with a wolfish grin on his bloody muzzle.

Dalrion hears the news while sipping on some Elven wine at the Ranger Post. He shakes his head and thinks, "What the hell were they thinking, going in there like that. They should have enlisted the aid of a couple rangers, who could have scouted and told them what they were facing. It is odd that they didn't have anyone scouting for them?"

With that last thought, Dalrion sits back, sighs, and orders another drink.
