  • Brotherhood of the Wolf

Long had the pack journeyed. They found themselves far from the Cold Wood. Little remained of what they had left, the pack broken and scattered.

He and his brothers and sisters understood the truth , hardship would make them strong. The spirits had no use for the weak. Cold and Ice, Blood and Fury, Storm and Thunder took the weak and left the pack strong.

Lashed on by the Storm, driven by the rain and a deep hunger they had found the valley. Here they would reform.

He was the Seer of his people. He had known the obstacles his people faced but been unable to do anything about them. Here, perhaps, a difference would be made, a place carved out.

War would be necessary but the the pack would remain.

The Tribe had grown since the long days of hunger. The pack had new members. Oodah and Oolah alike.

He was proud of his new pack-mates. Proud to watch them grow strong and fierce.

They had been tested but survived. Acheela had led them well and the power of the Fey had taken root in him. His Oolah Tahlee had had taken power from the storm and lightning and harnassed the spirits within.

The new ones he was unsure of but they had survived the cold and proven their worth. He would watch them grow.

The Struggle against those that inhabited the valley went well with wars on all fronts. Peace trades had been made with some. Others, unwilling to have peace, were given war.

    The Spirits had been right.

The Keeper had entrusted him with much. The Balance would be maintained at any cost.

He watched the others of the grove with hooded eyes. They spoke of peace and love. Of Faith and Understanding.

They knew nothing of what needed to be done. He was honored by the wise man's trust and glad to be of service. Let the others plant trees. Blood would win out. He knew nothing he did would be spoken of. Old growth had to be cleared for new growth.

Perhaps the Wise Man of the Grove did not know what he unleashed or perhaps it had been his plan all long. Fullgrin cared little.

" You were never his, you were mine "

He had journeyed alone to commune with the Spirits, far away from the city and those within. He liked this mountain and the isolation it brought.

The cold had reminded him of his former home and in a strange way comforted him.

That was before the searing blast of cold had torn into his lungs, driving his breath from him. A cold so deep he had thought death had finally found him. Deeper than anything the Cold Wood had brought. He heard the howl of wolves, all the wolves before him and all those after. A deep rising chorus.

He could not move, nor speak...or even breath. His world narrowed to those words, spoken deep within his soul. Stronger than any spirit he had known.

A feminine voice, an ice cold lash ripping through his body and soul.

        "Mine...."

Fullgrin sat atop the hill in the form of a large gray wolf, the latest gift from the blood spirit, overlooking the scene of the battle he was in. He had circled back and gone over the backtrail telling the Leejun tribe he would look for survivors but in reality picking off the odd snake to slake the bloodlust the spirits demanded.

He used his wolfish senses to avoid patrols and found a patch of tall grass to lay in. He suppressed a short yip as he recalled the Beerda telling the man One Eye disliked to cut the grass for him so he could see to fight. Fullgrin felt he had acquitted himself well, having fallen only once to the Elfa magic. He and his Oodah had fought them before and he remembered well the use of the magical grease and then the calling of flame the Leeza tribe favored.

One Eye had wished to talka but it was pointless Fullgrin knew. The Snakes had picked this land for their Tribe. The heads on stakes were simply a warning he understood only too well. The Wolf Tribe would have done the same has things been reversed.

He stretched and continued skulking along the grass. This war would wake up the gentle souls before it was over. The crying and moaning and agonizing and hand wringing would have to be put away for another time for the outcome to be anything different than it was now

He snuck up behind a snakeman patrol, ever so softly...yes...this would be a glorious war if he could stomach the talka talka that was sure to go before every battle.

He lost track of how much time he had spent as a beast...days..weeks..months...

He had scoured the Cold Climb seeking a way farther north to answer the call he heard in his soul and had finally found it. So much like the Coldwood he and his pack had left, the snow and ice. The air so cold it burned like fire in the lungs.

He scoured the ice flow as a wolf, seeking the way ever northward. Battered and bruised by the creatures of air and ice his howls gave way to roars and he flowed into the form of a massive bear. Crushing and destroying all in his path, scattering them as he called the spirits to him. Lightning and Fire and Ice all crashing around him as he called upon them to help his hunt. The Ice Spirit wished only the strong and his strength had been forged in the cruel ColdWood and nothing would keep him from the call.

Bullmen and giants alike fell before his voracious appetite, the creatures of air dispersed and the little demonlings swatted from the air. A joyous reunion with his Oodah, who also felt the call of the snow and ice so like their old home, helped him the find the temple.

They emerged from the swirling snow to consider the massive structure. The howls of joy from the hunt were cut short and they considered the place somberly.

Acheela looked over to Fullgrin a moment " This is where wish go ?"

"Yes Oodah, this is where Fullgrin has been called after following the Cold Spirit for so long, this is why she made Fullgrin and took him from the Blood Spirit to make hers."

He hesitated a moment before Acheela gently pushed him towards the doors " Go Oodah..find destiny..find answers "

A large ice covered bear pushes his head though the snow of his cave in the Spine. A curious " wuff " sounds in the air as he tests the wind after a very long hibernation. His nose wrinkles as he smells unfamiliar scents. The bear shifts and blurs rapidly as if trying to find it's natural form. It settles briefly on on a wolf covered in ice crystals and long dripping fangs and then longer on the form of a cat with a copper collar, the only mark of ownership he has ever allowed in fact.
The cat folds it's tail around itself and licks a paw briefly and cleans it's face before a snort escapes the small animal as if it knows none recall nor care about that particular form.
A brief shift to a chicken with a claw upraised and gleaming with hoarfrost...
The shifts become more rapid before settling on a quizzical but fierce looking halfling that slowly bleeds back in the form of a massive bear of ice. The air shivers as snow and rain turn to ice as once again what was once a hin does the work of his Mistress.

A shiver travels up the mad elf's spine, and gobbles becomes agitated and aggressive. He doesn't know the reason, but he suspects.
