  • A Dark Cleric Idea.

As most of you know...my character has a split personality disorder of sorts...she has two beings within one body. Due to events that might take place, her main conscious is banishing the other from her body, allowing me to make a new character. Given how Scarlett (banished) is, I'm going, or want to, make her into a nuking cleric with inflict spells and other nukes to destroy people. Now, this Cleric won't buff, like at all. Maybe for some stats, but otherwise she will be very unique, she wont use heavy or medium armor, or weapons really (I may sub some monk in..but probably not. She may just use a small weapon like a sling.) What are your thoughts on this? She'd laqck combat feats, but she would have MM Feats, and crafting feats as well. Stats are as shows:

    STR: 10.
    DEX: 14.
    CON: 14.
    INT: 14.
    WIS: 16.
    CHA: 10.

Starting Feats would be PS (practiced Spellcaster) Cleric and Spellcasting Prodigy. At level 3,. I want to take empower spell. Level 6 Maximize spell maybe...or a crafting feat.

Skills would be 1 in Diplomacy one level and craft alchmeny in another every level, with her other skills going up once every level normally (concentration heal spellcraft lore).

She's going to be LN, or CN...undecided.

    Thoughts?

First of all, practiced spellcaster only works if you multiclass. So it doesn't make sense as a first level feat.

If it's a banished being from a current character, you could use that as a lead into Warlock powers. After all, warlocks are nukers. The difference between the warlock and cleric would be the source of the power. Clerics get their mojo from a god, whereas warlocks draw it up from heritage or some demonic link.

So depending on the path of your character, and backstory, you may want to look into warlock.

Anyhoo, with the cleric note, I'd say go as much as possible into Wis. Try starting it at 17 so you can get a final score of 22. (if you even plan to get that high, I tend to like nice even stats at the end). MM feats are a good choice. Spellcasting Prodigy, Extend (not really useful if you don't buff), Still is unnecssesary as you aren't arcane, so Empower and Maximize are good choices. Silent could be fun. Throw silence on yourself then stand next to someone who's trying to cast and they're pretty much done for, while you can still hit them with spells. (assuming you're prepared)

So if you're set on cleric, then go as much wiz as possible, maybe even take some spell focuses. If memory serves, most of the cleric nuke spells are Evocation. So spell focus/greater focus and the spell penetration feats would be good. Hope this helps.

I was thinking of specializing in either Evocation or Necromancy (all inflict spells, Destruction, and harm). But ya...I did think of Warlock, but Warlocks don't have a lot of options for how I want her to be...she will be a nuker, but I want some other spells too. Msotly Death related spells.

        Dark cleric??? LN? CN?

        How about LE or CE?

If your making an new character with necromatic feats and inflicting spells then your character is leaning way too much to the dark side.. if thats your intention

Also.. your God Kelemvor will most likely disown you.. especially if you start leaning to Necromancy spells.

Im just letting you know the possibilities of whats going to happen to your character if this is the route you choose.

We can discuss it more in PM's or something if you wish.

Here is an example from forgotten realm sources:

All priests of Kelemvor may be called to a holy mission by their god or their senior clergy and pursue a more active and adventurous life. Such priests defend death clergy members and holdings when need be and bring death to others when it is necessary. For example, a Kelemvorite specialty priest assigned to a holy mission may be sent to lead an adventuring party to stop the spread of disease or kill beings seeking to disrupt natural cycles?such as mages who seek to create huge armies of undead or develop necromantic spells that can slay others and transform them inescapably into undead creatures under their control. Death clergy sent to slay predators or to go into dangerous country to comfort the dying are often issued scrolls of offensive spells or magical items of battle power gleaned from the goods of those who died alone.

Your character is not going to be seen as comforting, with a dark aura about you.. or laughing demonically and grinning wickedly..

Um.. I am having trouble understanding what you write... seriously.

                And to the OP:
Yes, Practiced Spellcaster does not make much sense if you do not pick other class levels.

Note: Not wearing armor as a priest is a nice move. Taking monk levels to up your AC that way is cheesy though. I am currently playing a priestess who does not want to wear armor. Admittedly I will have to figure out some tactics/strategies to not get her killed...

Current one I am testing is: Buff/heal others, Sanctuary on self.

Pardon me madam, but if you are also planning on playing an evil cleric, would you be so kind as to inform me of a method by which I may contact you?

Further, I strongly advise against the worship of Cyric or even Bane for that matter, and would humbly suggest instead the god Velsharoon as a choice compatible with your espoused ideals.

Medics are always nice, I kinda like clerics who are not the *buff->implode all* type. Like healers. Always wanted to start one, but I'm not the religious holy type

@Ozma: Thanks! I think I am just too old for this... kind of language.

@Clutch: Um... you are referring to my cleric then I guess? Let's not hijack Scarlett's thread here - her cleric will be quite the opposite of a medic so to speak.

                      (although - thanks. )

Lol...ok, heres how it works...or might. Not sure yet.

My character (Ashley Pauline) has another 'being' inside her. Her name is Scarlett. She's like...a manifestation of all the negativity and whatnot that Ashley went through as a child. Ashley would basically force her out of her body (still thinking of how that;'ll work, but then again, trhis is a fantasy setting... ) so I could make a new PC for Scarlett, thus having two characters.

Vel isn't on the big list of evil gods though...Cyric and Bane are.

Sounds like an idea that could potentially work.

So are you planning on staying with one over the other as an actual "main?"

Or are you going to split up time evenly between both characters?

Split...I want them to oppose each other action wise. Even though I can't be on with both, obviously. Thinking of maybe having it so when ones doing something, the other can't, due to their past links with each other. Though that sounds a tad corny to me..
