In the valley that leads to the Gate of the Sunderer, Sarah’s standing at the waterfront of the local river. A rope is fastened to a lamp on her right with the other end leading around the lamp to her left and finally resting at her feet.
As she gazes upon the raging ogre in front of her, she tightens her grip around the handle of her short sword and memories are passing her mind’s eye.
The arrival at the port of Avanthyr, her fight against the Splitfist at Sharahan Hills and the consequent meeting with Constantine in the caves. How she pledged loyalty to Lord Vitori, who task her with the perpetrations for the first Trial and how Andy and Cybil helped her with that. And how she was sent out by Lord Vitori to complete her first trial, by facing this ogre without the help of others and with no equipment, except her forged and enchanted sword.
Meanwhile the ogre had started charging her, after the taunting words she had thrown at him had finally penetrated his thick scull. At the last moment Sarah evades the charging ogre, but fails to catch the rope on the ground, so her plan to trip the ogre up with the rope failed. But with all the momentum built up by his charge the orgre dives deep into the cold river.
Weakened by the cold water and the slippery riverbed the ogre swings his club blindly and with even more rage then before whilst trying to reach the shore, but Sarah has no intentions of letting him out of the river alive.
And as soon as the ogre had come close enough to the shore, she attacked him with all her power.
The battle is fierce and long, but in the end Sarah gains the upper hand and with a prayer to the Red Knight she strikes the ogre down by forcing her sword into his heart.
Exhausted and wounded she’s forced on her knees, but she smiles and is relieved to have beaten the ogre. With a prayer to the Red Knight she starts tending her wounds, as Andy and another Red Blade walk up to her, to congratulate on her victory, which they watched from afar.
After some rest Sarah claims one of the hands of the ogre as proof and both, Sarah and Andy are returning to the Red Blades Hall.
