Childhood and teenage:
Garaen Aldanar was born in the year 1354 in Neverwinter as son of Geran and Alyssia Aldanar. Geran was a Newerwinter watch, Alyssia a weaver and Garaen their only son. Garaen's parents were loving, but Geran used to drink alcohol quite often and much which caused grief for Garaen and Alyssia. Garaen's childhood was otherwise quite happy even if his parents weren't the richest ones. Garaen was very active, wild and social child altough he wasn't patient enough to study well. His dream was to become a champion of Neverwinter army and he often played battling using wooden swords with his friends.
When Garaen reached teenage he started physical excercises, watched Neverwinter watch's practise-sessions and practised fighting with his father and his friends. During recovery periods Garaen was gathering with his friends and developed good social skills. He also started drinking wines and mead in company of Geran for Alyssas disappointment. Garaen continued this carefree way of living until he was fifteen.
During his fifteenth living year his mother had a riding accident and was crippled quite severely. Geran and Alyssia didn't have enough money to get her healed and she couldn't continue her profession anymore. From since then Geran was supporting his whole family with his meager watchman payments.
On the seventeeth year Garaen's misluck continued when Geran was backstabbed to death on one dark winternight when he was raiding local thieve's guild. Additionally to the great sorrow they had, Garaen and Alyssia were also in a plight how to earn their living. Despite of the opposition of Alyssia, Garaen was accepted as a watchman of Neverwinter after proving his skills to a recruitsman and Garaen took on the role as the head of the family. Garaen also started drinking more heavily to supress the pressure of responsibilities and to escape the pain of the loss of his father.
Garaen succeeded in avoiding the misluck of his father and when he turned eighteen he had another strike from Beshaba. (The god of bad luck) The wailing death, a mysterious disease, struck Neverwinter and even the healers of the city couldn't remove this illness. Garaens mother, weakened by her situation deceased quickly when the disease arrived. Garaen had no time to mourn the loss since he had to get out of the city, before the disease would get him too.
The adventures begin:
Garaen travelled to the great city of Waterdeep and started seeking job there. In a local tavern he, faithful to his habits, got drunk (also to forget the death of his mother) and ended in a company of Ereil Lyr'aneil an elvish spice- and metal merchant who was bound to a caravan traveling Long Road to Mirabar. They made a well paying deal that Garaen would protect the caravan from harm till Luskan.
Next morning was hard for Garaen. He had to prepare quickly in the agony of the hangover and quite in the beginning of the way, orcs had come down from the Sword mountains and attacked. Garaen performed well even though he hadn't recovered much from his hardship of headache and shaking. That wasn't all his merit though. There caravan had some experienced fighters and leaders who kept the morale high and caravan suffered only minor scratches and bruises.
After recovering from the attack and tending the wounds of injured the caravan went on forward. They endured the sabotage of lizardmen at about Mere of Dead Men, proceeded and circulated around Neverwinter. Rest of the journey was safe and Garaen got his paycheck at Luskan.
There Garaen decided to celebrate the payment and drank himself senseless in tavern called The Cutlass. After boisterous night, Garaen finally ended up in a bed with local and influential Pirate's, Captain Eslak's, lady Tamara.
The next morning wasn't pleasant at all. Eslak rushed in the room and Garaen managed to grab his clothes and weapon and run away. After quick investigation Garaen found that there exists a new city-state called Sundren in neighbour of Luskan which seemed like a good place to escape. He sneaked in a ship which was departing to Sundren and managed to hide there as a stowaway. He arrived well rested to Port Avanthyr...
