  • The Time for a Leader

Kilinar and Pentec sat in the temple of Oghma and discussed a variety of topics, both intellectual and mundane. Until they both came to the topic of the clans size. Kilnar found himself appreciative for the humans willingness to continue to aid the dwarves as he first had, tho the Brigades numbers now swelling to twenty had them both contemplating the need for something greater than Pentec simply acting as a Steward for the budding clan of Dwarves. They needed a voice of one of their own, and the time to make that decision was soon at hand. Pentec and Kilinar both sent magical sendings to each of the dwarven band asking for them to rally to the Four lanterns where they could decide their clans Captain.

((If you guys want to try to arrange a time in game to do this its fine (which will be doubtful to have more than four show..), if not we can just RP it out here, basically I want to name someone as Captain of the Skullcleavers. They will be rewarded for the position and they will take on some duties that I presently do like keeping track of the donations, missions, etc.))

*some days later they all convened at the four lanterns.*

The Tavern of the four lanterns was a bustle with a score or more of dwarves; some still dawned in their full mails clanking noisily about as they made jest and drank, tho the tavern keeper had been requested to limit the sales of alcohol until the business was to be completed he couldn't help but allow some of his customers to indulge. Master Pentec nodded to Kilinar to begin, seeing that nearly all of those in his well kept ledger were present. Kilnar obliged by making a short arcane pass, whispering something into his hands as if to warm them from a stinging cold, and then abruptly seperated his hands and clapped them together. A magical burst of sound came forth and sent Kilinar's mug of ale from his table some twenty paces to crash into the wall. His face cringed at the apparent mistake in leaving his ale Un-secured. All of the noise came to an abrupt end as all of the dwarves turned thier attention to the dwarf seated at the table next to Pentec.

*He cleared his throat somewhat embarrassed, but regained his composure quickly and began*

Please, be seated brothers and sisters.. my kin. *he waited a moment as all found a seat, or a place to stand* We have an important decision to make this night. Who among us shall be named our Captain, to often lead us into battle, and to represent us in our business dealings at times. Who will be our unified voice and mind..

I would like for any who feel they would like to lead to speak up and be heard, tell us of your qualifications, and why we should rally to your beckon. Those who wish to support someone and offer up suggestions are also welcome to speak..

*a general murmmer starts throughout the tavern as they all begin descussing it until someone call attention because they wish to speak* ((whoever wants to start, Kilinar might add something later))

*Axewhistle puts his finger into his mouth and give an ear piercing whistle*

After everyone in the tavern uncovers his ears and looks toward the *embarrassed* Axewhistle he points to Kilnar at the front to nominate him as leader. Axewhistle then proceeds to chop his axe at the invisible goblin and give a thumbs up in the direction of Kilnar. Looking around Axewhistle sees all of the confused faces, *shrugs and sits down*

*Kilinar being as sharp as he is, was quick to deduce the short game of sharaids and offered a dismissive gesture patting the air infront of him as he spoke.*

I am honored that you would suggest myself Master Axewhistle and as I am flattered I must decline. I already serve as an assistant to Master Pentec and as he allows will continue to take over his duties as a steward for our band. I have served as a sergeant before in the Mirabar Axes but I would wish for someone of more decidedly "dwarven" characteristics and background to be whom we present as our representative.

            *he pauses*

Seeing as the attention has been brought to me I would like to suggest someone if I may...

A dwarf of no small accomplishment who has time after time given to our coffers and aided in our missions. He has fought besides nearly all of us and is in my mind a Dwarf with much respect both in the Skullcleavers and out. I would like to nominate Master Ironforge... *he offers an open palm to the dwarf sitting with his usual tankard offering for him to speak*

Ironforge's face shows a little surpirse at such a nomination and though he is not prone to being embarrassed, he seems a little flustered at the list of his accomplishments that he considers his duty. After a few moments of thinking things through, he pushes his untouched ale aside and stands clearing his throat.

"Well den, I am 'onored to be nominated to such a position wifin da clan an that I am considered valuable to them as well. I could only 'opes to accomplish what is expected of me in such a position and pray ta Mordain that I could fulfill all the expectations that would be required of me. I will accept with the blessings of the rest of the clan and da of Master Harg. I value everyone's council in this matter, especially that of Rustbeard's and Kilinar's."

He pauses for a moment to gather his thoughts further scratching his beard. He looks to his wife Ruby at his side for a reassuring smile. When she gives it he continues with a nod to all.

"Let's be speakin of my accomplishments as Kilinar gave them and why I might be a good candidate. Aye, I have been with the clan since we could count our numbers on me one hand and I have donated much to the coffers to get our clan going ta make sure dey 'ave what dey need. But I am not the only one to have donated so much to this cause. Others have given everything they can to the clan and should also be recognized for der hard work and charity. Also, I would by dis time we consider ourselves family and my wife and meself consider you amongst our family as well. We could only hope dat whoever is chosen whether it be me or another amongst us gatherd at this time feels the same way for I believe dat is most important for da Clan...fer our people."

He sits back down next to his wife and holds her hand lending her comfort and support within the crowded room and nods to Kilinar to continue on.

Blackhammer lifts his disheveled head from the drool-covered slab of a table in front of him.

                "Yar!"

His face wears a maudlin expression of blissful inebriation and disbelieving joy at the company of so many Dwarves in one place.
It is clear that he was one of the first to arrive, as well as to 'indulge.
It is diffucult to tell if even he knows what he is agreeing to.

His head quickly slumps back down onto the table, the puddle of spittle where it last rested happily absorbing into his already dripping crimson beard.

Ruby considers the words her husband Gloirin had just spoke and decides to say a few words herself. She stands still holding his hand as she speaks to the congregated dwarves.

"Gloirin is a very dedicated man to 'is family and Oi can see that 'e considers all of you brothers and sisters. 'E will treat you as such and with as much respect as 'e 'as shown me in our time together. Whether 'e be deh leader of deh Clan er not, I do nah believe anything twould change nor would it keep 'im from fulfilling what 'e believes to be 'is duty to the Clan."

She pauses a moment to gather her thoughts and breath.

" 'E is a man to be greatly respected and a man who gives great respect to others. 'E knows where 'is duties lie and where the most good can be accomplished. As 'andsome a man as 'e is *winks*, 'e is a fair an' just man. Even if 'e were not me 'usband, Gloirin would 'ave me vote fer deh leadership."

Ruby sits back down with her husband and takes a sip of her ale.

Axewhistle gets up from his chair and walks over to pat Ironforge on the back. After showing his support Axewhistle strums a sweet lullaby on his mandolin. After several of the dwarfs are lulled into sleep by the magical notes he immediately rushes over and downs their unoccupied steins with a wide grin on his face.

Durin, Still clad in his full armor and battlemants raised his families heirloom axe and Shouted. "Aye Foin choise ere lads! Fer Ironforge!" *thrusting the greataxe upward to accentuate his point* FER KIN!, FER THA SKULLCLEAVERS! *his shouting met its crescendo in stating the clans name and many more fists joined his axe in the air and a roar for the Skullcleavers filled the tavern*

Noli sat, tankard in hand, watched the discussion and every so often sipping from her drink.

The years she had spent as a novice had taught her many lessons, but one of the important was that those who speak most often have least to say. Chauntea was not a great speaker, she was a doer. So when she spoke it was because she had something to say.

"Ah'd give ma vote te Master Ironforge." She said with a nod.

Gloirin was a good man, not afraid of making the hard decisions, nor of standing up for what he believed and he believed in the dwarves of Sundren. He would make a fine Captain.

Heed me thou more red than blood.
Through the passing of the mists of time I call to thee, swear myself to thee.
