  • Explosion at Port Avanthyr.

It was a peaceful night in Port Avanthyr, or, at least as peaceful as it usually was. Half of the port was asleep, while the other half was doing a mix of things, praying to be spared from Umberlee's fury when they set sail, preparing to set sail, getting drunk... Although, the crew of the Ivory Dawn aka 'Fishing/Trade ship in disguise' was doing no such things. They were planning a 'munity' of sorts against its captain, Litanya and her First Mate, Javiak or what he liked to call himself, 'Co-Captain'.

Of course, mutinies weren't uncommon with the crew of a pirate ship, especially when more than half of the crew was never loyal to their 'captain' from the beginning. Truly, they were the crew of another captain, a seasoned swashbuckler of the seas. It would always be best to not get your recruits for your own pirate business from another pirate ship, for the captain might just find out about it, if you do so unwillingly on his part and plot against you. This particular captain was even Litanya's father, Trenor B. Darven. She tried stealing most of his crew just so she can be her own woman, and what better way to do that by doing what she was practically raised for? Of course, there were the spoils that she could have almost to herself, save for letting the crew get their share, hoping that if she was fair enough the crew would stay loyal, and she didn't mind sharing much anyway. After all, they do carry out most of the dirty work. Usually.

Alas, if she had not been so bold, if she had waited a few more years, things may have worked out better. Her 'crew' might not be setting up what gunpowder they have for their only two cannons to blow the Ivory Dawn to sink down into Port Avanthyr, their cannons being back-ups in case their mages are ever incapacitated or away. All the while her mutinous crew fulfills their orders given to them nearly two years ago, Litanya and her 'Co-Captain' sleep soundly in the captain's quarters... Albeit, the Co-Captain having been forcefully moved into a much smaller compartment of the captain's quarters with a locked door between Litanya's quarters and his due to a certain unpleasant nightly fiasco.

    -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

Litanya finally wakes from a mistake of a mutinous crewmember, a loud creek outside her quarters echoes inside, shattering the otherwise silent night in Port Avanthyr. Litanya, upon hearing a second creek, sits up quickly, thinking Javiak had broken the lock into her quarters and was sneaking inside.. She squints in the darkness of the room, not seeing any movement or humanoid shapes outlined by the moonlight coming in from the windows behind her. No doors have been opened as far as she could seen, only having two to enter in from the captain's quarters, save for the trap door underneath various crates, which are undisturbed.

Hm, strange... Could someone be outside? I don't think the port officials just let anyone slip into the ships docked there, and the crew had gone out to sleep out at the taverns. Well, except for Javiak, but either way, whoever is out there can't have a good excuse to be on my ship at this time of night.

Litanya moves and slides out of her modest bed the rather cold wood making a small chill run up her spine from her bare feet, having been warmed by the woolen comforter. She looks to her leather garb already set up to her right on the wall, an rather expensive set of armor she had deemed lucky when many things had seemed to go better ever since she had 'acquired' the armor from a merchant ship a few months back. Winds faired better for her, Her ship rarely sustained serious damage, if any, and plus the armor did its job well.

No time to get dressed, whoever is out there could leave at any second, if there is anyone...

So then she looks to her left on a nightstand, her belt with a sheath holding a Rapier inside. She grabs her rapier and pulls it out of its sheath as quietly as she can. She then grabs her key-ring also next to her belt and selects the one to open the door that leads to the deck. She stands up out of bed and approaches the door silently, occasionally looking around to the shadows, as if someone could appear out of them and strike her down. She reaches the door silently and unlocks the door. When her hand touches the door, she nearly breaks the handle as she turns it when a loud *Bang!* utterly shatters the silence of the night, Litanya falls backwards when the boat rocks violently from the shockwave of some explosion, her mind trying to process what just happened, her heart having nearly exploded didn't help her mind either.

Oh hells, I-I knew this wasn't...

She curses loudly as the ship begins to tilt forwards now, quickly surmising that staying here to find out what happened would only lead herself to her doom. She finally focuses on the material plane instead of her mind, seeing that the door in front of her is already open... She reaches out, grabs the doorknob and then pulls herself up. She looks out the door towards the bow and sees that it will very soon be submerged, along with the docking ramp.

By the time I reach th-... I need a new exit route!

She quickly thinks of a new escape plan, running out the door and to her right, nearly slipping on the wood with her bare feet, running up several steps to get to the helms deck... Already the ships bow is pointing seaward.

Oh S%$#, this is going to be close...

She runs as fast as she can up a steepening incline, though not too steep as to keep her from running past the Tiller fast, and also not too steep to hop onto the 'wall' that keeps people from falling into the sea during storms. Having thankfully timed her jump right to land onto the ledge, she uses the momentum of her forward movement to jump forwards off the boat, easily managing to land onto the piers of Port Avanthyr, though she winces at the force of her landing, having fell a good few feet ungracefully, all her thoughts pausing for a moment before thinking to herself,

Thank Tymora... I guess not as close as I thought.

She stands up and turns around, silently, and grimly, watching as the Ivory Dawn sinks, a frown taking the place of her previously smiling lips, having been happy that she survived. Then, it starts raining, the water easily seeping into and through her light sleep-wear cloth, sending a shiver all throughout her body as well as breaking the silence of her mind.

Oh gods... Whoever did this is going to really, really find themselves hurting... Javiak, my armor, my earnings, all gone... Oh no. My crew... Hopefully, this land is lawful enough to keep me from their wraith...

[[DMs, I would really think it would be awesome if we held an event about this, like people going to investigate the sinking of a ship in the ports of Sundren as well as the crew of the Ivory Dawn... The mutinous crew was ordered to kill all of those who weren't loyal to the 'real captain' when they were given their orders by Trenor.B. Darven, so there would be murders to investigate maybe or murderers to find, or one of her unloyal crew members could actually kidnap Litanya to present to their 'real' captain when they return to him, thinking it would earn him/her extra rewards or standing with the captain, since she's their daughter. We can PM it up or you can wing it from there if you wish to do this event ^.^]]

(( The creativity and writing is great, but did this happen through a DM event? Things like this that happen in a Sundren area, or that might give a starting PC fame, fortune, or infamy they did not earn through RP, require DM approval. Thanks for understanding-- ))

      [[*Sigh*

After speaking with Phantom Lamb have found the ignorance of my ways again and have rendered this plot null and void.]]

//Couldn't you just change the story up to happen off the docks of sundren, in the middle of the ocean? And you were lucky enough to wash ashore? Or maybe a sea elf pushed you ashore? Or even umberlee made sure you washed ashore, showing her favor? meanwhile the mutiners escape on a dingy. Endless possibilities here without the need of a dm event to start it off.

No dm event required, and still the matter of having enemies to track you down, which the dms can use later on. They might even think you dead until rumors circulate of a pirate fitting your description reaches them.

You get to claim you're a pirate of whatever fame, and nobody has to believe you if they don't want to, or you don't even have to tell the truth on how big or small of a pirate you really are.//

(( That's actually the issue Kaseira: fame. Level three characters don't get to captain pirate ships and be famous without DM approval beforehand.

It's a well-written story, but SS has chosen to move on instead of tweak it. ))

\\ I don't understand how there is fame, in my example, when its all gone. You're only famous when people know you, as per definition. Clearly, nobody would know this person, and they have nothing to prove it with, so they do not have fame. They're just another level 3 PC with a past. No? \\

//As PL has said, I was ignorant again [[yet he says it in a better way]] out of my 50 thousand times again and went to make myself look like I want to be 'All that' and all this other stuff with being more famous than you are, even though she wouldn't tell people she is a pirate. Freaking SERIOUSLY! Good pirates keep their existance as-hidden-as-possible, until they become famous for downing many ships. There are many pirates out there, But are they all famous? are they all strong-abled? Some have been witty and smart but not exactly strong.

Eaither way, PL is right and this character is a failed creation just like many others in which holds no benefit to anyone in discussing it. So there you go. Good day.//

(( This is getting WAY out of hand. To clarify, by "fame," I mean power, influence, and yes, infamy as well. I am closing this thread, we don't need any more drama. ))
