  • A bounty hunter arrives in port

He had finally arrived in port. What did they call this place again? Oh, that's right. Sundren.

What is your name and where do you hail from? And what are you here for?

Hmmm... another land keeping a census. Sure. I'll tell them anything just like the last time. It's not like they can really check.
Elijah wasn't fond of lying but it has become a necessity. The first time he revealed where he was from, he was almost found and captured. Where did this ship leave from again? Ah, that's right... He then replied. The Moonshae Isles. They call me Duskthorne. And I am a bounty hunter.

A bounty hunter? Elijah smirks to himself. It was ironic that the very people he sought to escape from have influenced him to turn to the same profession. To escape capture, he learned how to think like a bounty hunter. He learned so well in fact that he became one. It was the easiest way for him to obtain a coin considering that he traveled so much.

There aren't too many that can do what he can do however. He specializes in the apprehension of mages. Irony strikes again in his profession as uses the Weave against those he apprehends. He believes that you CAN fight fire with fire. And there aren't many that can learn the arcane arts and still have the ability to become a master tracker.

He scans the dock walls for potential work. Posters are loosely arrayed. Someone is paying to eradicate some goblins. Bah. Not even worth my time. Eh, I guess work is still work. Karthus? Hmmm... too bad he's already apprehended. That was a LARGE reward. Logan? I'll keep that one in mind. Another on a tiefling. I don't even know what a "tiefling" is.

He takes copies of the bounty posters down and takes mental notes of their descriptions. He then wanders off into town to assess the land he is now in.

What did they call this place again? Oh. That's right. Sundren.

Duskthorne notices the one poster he missed.

A necromancer, huh? Hmm... not one of the petty magicians I've had to chase down before. I will have to read up on necromancers. 20,000 stags is a large bounty. She must be quite a powerful one. Time to do some homework...

In fact, he always does homework on all his quarries. One should never to underestimate their opponent.

But first, I need to learn the lay of the land. I'm done slaying these goblins. I hear there's a forest called the Viridale around here. I wonder who knows the way? I need to become familiar with every hiding spot and hunting ground around here.

He tosses the goblin chief's head and a sack full of goblin ears in front of the Sergeant to collect his bounty.

Here you go. The goblins in these hills multiply quick but this should bring their numbers down. Now, what do you know about the people in these wanted posters...?

Duskthorne writes in his notebook encrypted in a way that only he knows how. The notebook bears no markings of ownership or purpose.

        Target: Logan

I overheard the name of Logan today. He is a hin it seems. Ah. He'll be a sneaky one. He needs to be taken quickly and by surprise lest he is lost in the shadows.

It appears that he dresses in women's clothing as well --- something about it all happening in a bar. He must be the erratic type or the classic drunk. If the former, his unpredictability will be an issue. If the latter, this can be used against him. The women shuddered when they discussed this and mentioned something about the dress being burnt. He must be an ugly fellow... and foul.

It seems though that those talking of him knew him personally. Yet, they have not turned him in. That means that he is either the vengeful type or is well connected.

Still don't know what he looks like or what his strengths and weaknesses are. No matter. I have time.

          Duskthorne writes in his notebook...

          Target: Serena

I met a male tiefling today. He had horns and red eyes. Others confirm that all tieflings have the horns as an identifying feature. This should make a female tiefling easy to spot.

The male tiefling was also gruff and resistant to friendly greetings. Unsure if they are all like this but I hope so. It makes it easier for me to turn them in.

            Target: Logan

I witnessed Logan's imprisonment on the Exigo grounds along with everyone else. And I witnessed the tail end of his escape. He truly is a sneaky one. It seems that mere bonds won't hold this hin. I studied the escape site after the fact. His footsteps are light.
His gait is quite distinct for a hin.

I also heard reports of him threatening the life of an elf... Thrion I believe. My original thoughts of him are correct. He is vengeful and likely dangerous. This means that I do need to turn him in lest he be danger to anyone else.

              Target: Serena

I met the female tiefling in the Keeper's grove. She was named by another druid in our presence. She seemed at ease there implying that she is probably a druid or a ranger. If the former, she may the ability to shift her form. She will be difficult to track, if not impossible, to track.

I considered just asking her to turn herself in. 1000 stags isn't worth a fight. But she was just as rude as the male tiefling I encountered before. Our conversation merely began and she was already nipping at my heels.

It makes bounties difficult to accept when I sense that the target hasn't done anything wrong. If her demeanor towards me is a reflection of her character, she may pose a danger as well. If she broke this simple law, what else will she break?

She may be more trouble than her worth but I'm going to do the job anyway. She needs to be watched.

                Target: Samantha

                CLOSED.

Others have captured her already. I need to get a better lay of this land. I heard she spent much of her time in a place called the Necropolis. I need to find directions to it.

                  Target:Logan

My sources tell me that the Exigo bounty on him is still valid.

He attacked Elijah and some companions yesterday as they fought against Cartel thugs. Though he was hooded, I recognized his clothes, hin stature, and recognizable voice ((rolled a 22 vs INT))... especially that voice.

He attacked swiftly from the shadows and disappeared before they knew what hit them. A normal rogue or assassin can't disappear with such skill. He then continued to leave the shadows to continue his ambush only to disappear once more. They were ill prepared and of no match. He also ran with much agility and speed. Those hin legs travel fast. They were fortunate he left them for dead in the caves.

Being that deep in the Cartel caves and attacking them without provocation, I can only deduce that he works for the Cartel. Either that or he preys on targets of opportunity. Though I suspect the former, either reason makes him a threat.

He will be no easy target. I've never hunted one with such skill in the shadows. I need to do some research...
