  • The "Final Solution"

Kathryn silently fumed, hiding her fear behind her anger.

"How dare they?" she thought. "The Hands of Mundus have made their intentions clear, with their magical enslavement of Sol, it is clear they mean to control or destroy all those who they deem "naturals" and that includes me.... very well then. When things have settled.. if we succeed ... if I survive.. They will pay for their.. " Kathryn paused unable to think of the word for those who would strip her of her abilities to become an automaton bound to their as surely as a Thayan knight is bound by her tatoos. She thinks of Hano and his conviction. " I am like that, I am proud of being a Sorceress. My magic is my own.. unique. Hano has his blessings from Torm.. I have my blessings of my blood.. what they do is heresy.. yes.. that is the word heresy.. blasphemy against magic itself. And somehow.. they must be stopped.. before it's too late. "
Lately the only thing that keeps me from wishing for a worldwide disaster... is that it would probably interrupt my network connection

Sol sits alone in her study, scribing and reading various recitations under dim candlelight. Her quill drives skillfully over the parchments in a mad rush, a technique learned and honed by Mizrahi's usual mannerisms:

"No, you will scribe it here... in the rain." His voice echoed in her mind as she smiled cooly, squinting her eyes in further focus.

So strictly had he molded her craft with his patience and dedication. So much he had sacrificed for her to be able to simply exist, without the pain and flaw of her heritage. Resting the quill she paused to gaze down into the parchment. The script was flawless, of course, but it just did not seem real that night. Nothing seemed real... surreal.

"What a silly, incoherent little mess of a girl." Her mind chimed, "To think that these markings---no, these protections---are only stoked by prejudice of my naturalist qualities."

Resting her chin in her palm, she removed her glasses and set them on top of her books. Rubbing her eyes, she looked up and out the window glass front of her. The reflection, baring her markings, stared back at her.

"To think Mizrahi would do this for himself. It was my choice, and my choice was to keep them safe... from myself." Her palm rises to cover her face as she exhales deeply. "To let my entire body be marked and sealed... you cannot even appreciate it, Kathryn."

A slight pause before nodding to her reflection, and then back to scribing. Kathryn's words had obviously pestered her that night.
