  • Tifton's Journal

    * Many have seen the pages of Tifton's journal carried by Hano Fetten. It is widely believed that if one can decode the initial passage, one can decode the entire book. *

Staring down at the first passage, The Tormite's eyes slowly lose focus in the body of incoherent text. Moving the pieces around in his mind, sitting there and letting his thoughts and ideas carry him in hopes of at least finding some kind of sense in this.

After a few hours of analyzing it over he rubs his eyes and lets out and abrupt sigh. "Books, studying, and all of this decoding has surely been beyond me... I'm so close now, but I must come to terms with the truth." He groans leaning in his chair reaching to the nearby bookcase, pulling a stack of empty parchments strung together for convenience.

"I am a Paladin and I have many weaknesses, this being one of the many. I've come to learn that during my most feeble and weak moments that I must draw strength from the people and in turn, rely on them..."

He undoes the strings around the parchment then flips through them checking the quality of each piece. "...Irony, I guess, but no one can could reject this undeniable truth." Drawing in a long reluctant breath he continues.

"I may not be quick or clever enough to do this myself, but the people are. My friends are. I'll copy this first passage as many times as my hand will allow me and offer it to anyone willing to take a look and try to decode it." With that he begins copying down the first passage for all of those that would accept it. It would be easier, after all, to have many people analyze the passage at once rather than one at a time with the original.

Anyone who visits the Triumvirate has access to these said copies.

He strides quietly into the Triumvirate barracks with his typically unassuming and casual gait; his serenity betrayed by his warm smile. Each step is followed by the reverberant sound of his staff tapping against the stone, echoing in an almost musical way. As he approaches one of the Paladins he inclines his head out of respect.

“Greetings Friend, Have you seen Hano today? I need to speak with him.”

The Paladin looks him up and down briefly, with narrowed eyes.

“I believe he has stepped into the other room. Have a seat, I will check.”

He nods to the Paladin taking a seat nearby. As he gazes around the room he notices an unusual amount of activity: adventurers and commoners alike scurrying about attempting to translate ‘some journal’. He also notices a copy of the journal lying nearby. With the end of his staff he slides the copy closer and then spends a few minutes staring at it intently.

      “He must have left.”

The man looks up to see the Paladin approaching. Quickly, he tears a blank piece of the parchment from the copy and grabs a nearby inkwell and pen.

“Well, I suppose it isn’t that important. If you see him though, give him this note.”

As he hands the Paladin the hastily-scribbled note he inclines his head again and smiles.

      “Thank you, Friend. Farewell.”

Looking for Hano, Snow Hawks find himself in the temple. Passing by a table he glances over and recognizes patterns, patterns he was taught in the east. How curious to see them here. The guard nearby smiles, perhaps in amusement at the poor dumb barbarian. Snow Hawk ignores him and begins reading the text outloud.
"helm is the ultimate guardian, the ever-vigilant sentry who allows nothing to compromise his duty. he is fond of children and more tolerant of their minor infractions than of anyone else's.

many believe that helm would give his own life to guard something entrusted to him. he is silent on the matter.

as the eternal sentry, he knows that the end of the world will inevitably come on his watch. helm serves his duty faithfully and faultlessly. helm has always borne a heavy load, symbolized by his omnipresent suit of armor. helm serves without complaint, willing to make any sacrifice to protect his charge.

it is as he says: never betray your trust. be vigilant. stand, wait, and watch carefully. be fair and diligent in the conduct of your orders. protect the weak, poor, injured, and young, and do not sacrifice them for others or yourself. anticipate attacks and be ready. know your foes. care for your weapons so they may perform their duties when called upon. careful planning always defeats rushed actions in the end. alwaus obeu orders, providing those orders follow the dictates of helm. demonstrate excellence and purity of loyalty in your role as a guardian and protector. "
Shrugging to himself he walks out the door without seeing the guards reaction to the spoken word.
