*Pom Wador the gnome druid*
I cant believe it! I thought that because the corruption was receeding that it was a good thing. Not in any way no! This is just terrible just absolutely terrible. I cant stand it what has happened. The forest, the deeper part of the corrupted forest, we finally got the help of a diviner from the hands of mundus who didnt want to go with us at all but was probably forced to. We went on behest of the Keeper, and I was to be the druid to help guide the rest towards the center of the corruption. We were going to try to stop it if we could or at the very least find out what was causing it. We went into the forest and before we even got to the untrodden grounds we were attacked by Xithis' spider monsters! There were dozens of the giant ugly spiders! We fought as bravely as wolverine or a mother bear against them. Then there was him! That nasty Ulrik guy. I had a run in with him before when they almost got the cube before they actually had succeeded. The jerk taunted us and I was gonna attack but then he vanished.
We went farther in to the woods and came to where the path was hidden. The mundus seer helped us find a way inside and we went to the hidious corrupted woods. I dont think I can accurately describe how horrible the corrupted wood was. The trees and plants were all sick and rotting and there was filth and refuse all over. We went inside and the forest attacked us! We were able to battle off the corruption and proceeded deeper. What we found was even more horrible than the corruption! There were slimy dead plants and animals all over, completely succumbed to the awful blight. I was the only druid in the group and it pains me to say that it was probably for the best... I would not wish any other druid or traveler of nature to witness what I witnessed there in the center of the death and decay. I feel as though I will be scarred for life from that awful scene but if it was possible worse was to come.
Worse you ask? Well the very rot and decay rose up and attacked us. These creatures made completely out of the filth and refuse tried to destroy us but we fought valiantly. I transformed into the great tree spirit and squashed them into goo. The battle was difficult but we prevailed. After the fight we detected a strong presence of magic upon the hill. Going further against the wishes of some of my companions we went upwards. What little was left of the forest began to rapidly thin out and decay right before our very eyes being drawn upward to the source of the incredible powerful magic. Upon the hill...
.... Im sorry im not even sure if I can talk about this. *sniff* There was a great tree. One radiating magic as well as rot and decay. As we aproached it we saw the foul Xithis himself with some followers about to perform a foul ritual. The stench and decay there was so powerful that it brought us all to our knees! We tried to fight against it, tried to do something but we were all powerless to stop it from happeneing! I still feel drained from that awful day. But then is when the decay began... It was as if the tree was drawing the decay, death and disease from all around into itself and even from the followers who all withered and died as well. The tree then withered and collapsed in a spray of rot and carrion all over. *sob* We couldnt do 'anything' to stop it! I tried... oh how I tried... I tried to raise up and attack, tried to even stand... but I couldn't! *sob*
Why? Why did that have to happen?! I prayed for strength or for anything to help but my cries didnt even seem to leave my soul, as if cut off. Then Xithis that foul monster, he pulled out the heart of what was left of the tree as it crumbled to nothing, and there it was. The Cube, Genums cube. Im pretty sure it was it though hard to tell with all the blackness. And then... he left. Just like that and we were able to stand. He was long gone by that time then and the land was left desolate. A wasteland with not a single blade of living grass or crawling ant. Desolation. Complete desolation! Oh my soul witherd at the sight as did my body. All life was gone, destroyed. Nature itself was destroyed there. It is gone and I mourn its loss *sniff* But now is the time to seek answers and to remedy this horror so it will never happen again! By the great Treefather Silvanus I promise to give my all, even my life if nessessary to stop Xithis and the foul cube! But the cube... why would it be so connected to something so vile unless.... that must be it! Is the avatar of the trapped god inside the cube... Talona? Why else would the Talonians be so desperate to get the cube and succeed at it? By the Treefather if that is true then it is even more dire than we first feared. We must remedy this problem at all costs!
