  • When darkness falls..

It was early in the morning, Neradnal could not sleep. He felt the heat of battle in the air of his prison cell. Something was coming for him, be it friend or enemy he was not certain.

Some time passed and the tension that was in the air passed, the jail quieted down. What ever had happened outside his cell had passed, he was now wide awake. He looked out of the small bared window and made small talk with the guards, finally the guard tired of the conversation and told him to shut it.

Neradnal moves back away from the door and sits down. Not long after that something strange happens to a rat, it begins to take form, the shape of a man! Neradnal waits there, not saying a word. Wondering what exactly is about to happen. The mans shape takes form, it is the form of Karthus! But was he here to kill him, or save him?

As he approached Neradnal, Neradnal remained silent. He had decided if he was her to kill him he would not say a word, it would be the least he could do for a friend. But the man instead hands him an item that he was most fond of, a Symbol, one with the power to return them to their fortress. Now all he needed to do was figure a way to end this magic field.

He ribbed the Mage, trying to interrupt his concentration. In the end he simply waited for the Mages to change places, to switch shifts. When the Mages stoped their casting for a brief moment Neradnal opened the magical portal to their Fortress, and Karthus followed behind him.

Freedom, at long last. The General of Ill'Koresh's army had returned, ready to lead his troops to battle.

Pacing the halls of the fortress, Karthus was clearly troubled. He knew very well that Landaren was dangerous, corrupted, and a maniacal killer; Karthus knew that he was evil. Knowing, though, that goodness exists only in contrast to evil, and evil in contrast to goodness, that each part was necessary - each a component of the entire picture. It had to be done, for the preservation of balance, and to create conflict; the seed of all growth.
