In Avanthyr, men cast their lines for fish. In the outskirts though, fish cast theirs for men. It was an odd sense of satisfactional irony that immediatly crossed Karthus' mind before the gravity of the situation hit him. Right before his eyes, Lauan was dragged underneath the glassy surface of the small lake that they had stumbled across, pulled in by some scale-covered creature. Out of protective reflex, the over-taxed Karthus sprinted towards the edge of the lake, looking to Hano.

"You are better in the water than I, Karthus. Go!"

Physically there was no delay before Karthus proceeded to dive in, though the moment before he splashed into the water was filled with thoughts of how bad an idea this was. His doubts became factual before he could even adjust his eyes to the the new environmental conditions, as moments after he entered, his consciousness was lost. Whatever happened, Karthus did not know, nor would he in the foreseeable future - but when he awoke, he was bound with vines in a blindingly dark cavern, bleeding profusely from a terrible spear wound.

Karthus could hear a voice, --or was it voices-- calling out for someone, but he could not focus on the words, if they were even really there. Falling in and out of mental awareness, the bleeding Druid did all that he could to mantain himself while holding onto the final ounces of life in his mind and body. The next thing that Karthus remembered was being shaken awake by a poorly defined, blurry female figure trying to poor something down his throat.

...A potion! At last, he could remain awake! Karthus felt his life returning to him in a rush of mental and physical health and focus, allowing him to stagger to his feet. Realizing that he and his savior were still utterly blind in the darkness, Karthus focussed upon the energy that would summon a sphere of light into the palm of his hand - an effect any caster could achieve, though not in such a damaged state, he learned. The spell flickered in his hand and died as quickly as it had been cast, leaving the cavern's characteristics unseeable to the two within.

    "Fuck this."

Relying on a gift much different from spellcasting, Karthus, himself, erupted into flame until his very form was lost in the fiery whirlwind, bringing light throughout the deepest recesses of the cavern. Karthus quickly learned that his savior was Lauan, and that she had never moved from his side since pouring the potion down his throat. She was now on fire.

Karthus heard the poor girl scream, though also noticed that at the end of the tunnel was the culprit of his wounds - a spearwielding lizardman, though already in single combat with a smaller creature that he could not yet make out. Deciding to rush over to the people-fishing lizard to come to the aid of the small creature, the fire elemental scared the lizard off into a side-tunnel as Lauan rushed over to the cavern's stream in an attempt to douse the fire that had ignited on her hair and clothes. It was at this moment that the chaos proceeded to only get worse as Karthus' wounds caught up to him once more, causing him to be unable to mantain his shapeshift. In the resulting darkness, Lauan collided with the Druid's human form with her own enflamed body, burning Karthus as they both tripped and fell into the shallow of the stream.

Returning to conciousness after an undefined period of time, Karthus found himself back out of the water, surrounded by several people that he could not remember having been there before. He was offered healing by a man named Cade who gave him the strength to finish the healing himself, and Karthus was then left only to ponder what in the hells happened between his lapses in cognitive thinking.

Having just nearly missed the demon, Hano, Karthus, Akodo, and Lauan head north, the direction the demon was last seen flying. They walked for many hours as Lauan hop, skipped, and ran around the group, talking nonsense. They kept walking until they came upon a small forest.

Karthus asked one of the locals, probably a squirrel if it had seen any demons about. Unfortunately the animal was too busy eating bugs to worry about demons or devils. They decided to head along the path they came, in the miserable heat, they found some pleasure and refuge in the shade.

The direction they wuld head is towards the Mirukus post nearly 30 miles away. Lauan, and the others, were filled with joy as they spotted a crick, running through their path, hoping to ease the pain of the never ending heat by taking their drink. The adventurers were upon the crick Taking their fill, but an over-zealous Lauan dunked her head completely under water to drink as much as she could before the slimy scaly claws dragged her under....

Lauan was blindfolded and dragged into a small crampe room being prodded by lizardmen spears to make sure she would not cry out. they dumped her in the dark room bound by very thick bonds made of vine which her attempts to break out of were futile, despite her strength. She stopped struggling when the lizardmen brought another victim into the room, and began her struggle as soon as they had left.

"Hello?" Lauan cried out to the lizard men's newest victim. There was only silence in Lauan's reply, but that silence was broken by a groan which could match one of the undead. She gasped and cried out again. " Who's there?! " Stricken with fear, she attempted to talk with the groaning sound. The groaning creature told her to cut her binds on a rock, before hearing a loud thud which resulted in the creature no longer speaking further. With great fear, and haste, she proceeded to cut the binds on a nearby rock.

She ran over to where the groaning had sounded and began to rip its binds off it with her great strength. The sounds of hissing could be heard of in the not too distant distance. Feeling the body, she recognized it as a human with lots of blood on him/her. Lauan, in a panic, lifted the body and proceeded running around franticaly looking for a way out, bumping into walls and such, before setting the man down and wrapping his wounds crudely. The man uttered one word in a familiar voics. " P-potion..." Lauan reacted by dumping a potion of cure light wounds and a barkskin potion down his throat.

The light spells h was attempting to cast failed miserably. Karthus let out an F-bomb and then flung himself into a fiery form, setting Lauan on fire, which then she slashed at him with her sword before running around in hysteria looking to put out the flames. The lizardmen in the room dispersed at Karthus's presence, but Lauan's slash weakened him and he had to return to his feeble state. In her panic, Lauan ran into Karthus, causing a flaming ball to go crashing down in the water which emerged on the surface.

Lauan gave a few fearful glances to the water before turning her back on it with out a word to the others

She watched silently as the woman was pulled beneath the depths of the murky waters. The clawed hand thrusting up from the recesses of the bog grasping at her head, wrenching it downward, as her body dissapeared below the river.
The others reacted slowly, not realizing the sudden danger the girl was exposed too.
Karthus leapt into the churning waters, followed closely by the hated knight. They searched futiley for the child, splashing through the murk, clinging to the hope they would reach her before she succumbed to the unexpected assault.

It was a pity that the druid had chosen to enter the waters, she held no specific hatred towards the man, but the paladin had become a thorn in her side and she would not waste such an oppurtunity out of needless pity.

Calling upon the blessing's of the mother she drew upon the primal fury of the storm, unleashing arcing bolts of lightning to strike the surface of the water. The air surrounding the party exploded in a blinding flash of heat, the acrid smell of sulfer permeating the air.
She watched as the smoking bodies bobbed helplessly towards the surface, floating face down in the water, unmoving.

Tis now the very witching time of night,
When churchyards yawn and hell itself breathes out
      Contagion to this world.
