* The avalanche was a beautiful and fatal display that would have made the Frostmaiden proud. It came in the night, abruptly, as the strong, stiff slab fractured and hundreds of metres of snow and ice crushed instantaneously down the slope in a killing fury. It grew, entraining snow and forming powder clouds, with no semblance of mercy.
It may have been Beshaba's will that damned them all, and perhaps it was Tymora's commiseration that the deadly flow came at twilight when all but a handful of sentries were asleep, but the end result overwhelmed the encampment.
The majority of the inhabitants perished instantly, their turning in to slumber being the last memory of their mortal lives. A few were less fortunate and became buried beneath compacted snow, their bodies crushed and failing from arterial bleeding and spinal fractures; suffocation claimed them, too, after a time.
The silence that preceded the avalanche followed it, but things were different now. The shelters built by the inhabitants were gone. The flickering light and life that came from fires throughout the camp were forever extinguished.
The Tribe of the Rhemoraz was gone.
As Tymora would have it, Red Bear, Night Owl, and Moon Calf were South in the Viridale at the time. But Snow Hawk had headed North that very day, his fate uncertain. *
