Dear Diary,
Holding back the Veritas has become a grind. Routinely we bombard their shelters, but the mountains are so strong, I fear our shelling does little to rout them. I have a bad feeling we'll be asked to send in infantry, and that might not go so well on their home turf.
But the travelers that come by get stranger and stranger. Adventurers who think they're doing good but actually do great harm to our men. Today, I saw a hin and a half-orc fighting the Veritas. At first, I was glad to see more volunteers... but then they came running back to camp, bleeding and shouting in pain, half-dead. My boys ran to help, charging out to the Veritas pursuit, and getting injured themselves in the scuffle.
The hin and the half-orc paid no heed to the loss and pain of us soldiers. Instead, they chucked down some healing potions and charged right back out there without a word! I thought they'd try to help our boys out at least, but I guess they were too caught up in the thrill of "doing their part."
Turns out "their part" is just to bleed. Again, they came running back for help, and again, our men charged out to stop the assault.
We lost two of my friends today.
I'm glad to see people try to help, but when you fail, you don't keep putting yourself, or others, at mortal risk. If I see them again, I'll have the captain arrest them--for the good of our boys, and for their own good.
