Calowyn had listened to what the Keeper of the Grove had said about the plague. However, he could not help but think the followers of Bane were somehow involved with the plague and the worshippers of Talona. He grew impatient and had to do something besides patrol the forest.
He travelled to the Sharahan Hills has fast as he could. He knew of an alter to Bane, in the goblin caves. Once there, he waited at the Exigo Expidition camp untill nightfall. Then he snuck past the Spittles in the hills and entered their caves. He crept past most of them, but on occasionally, he had to shove a dagger in one's back or take one out with a well placed arrow.
Calowyn made his way down to the alter of Bane, just to find it crawling with undead abominations. After putting them to rest, he again moved into the shadows and made his way to the Chieftan's cavern. There he found his prey, two Banites talking with the Chieftan. He slowly moved into position and waited to strike one of the Banites over the head. He did after all need one alive, for what he had planned!
Luck was with him and he knocked the first banite out with the pommel of his sword. Then that grotesque Chieftan landed a blow to his abdomen and blood began to spew forth. Calowyn new that he had to finish this fast, before he drew the attention of the other Spittles farther up in the cavern. He ran back down the tunnel a short way, then quickly turned and stabbed at the Chieftan. Electrical sparks flew as the sword hit the Chieftan in the arm, causing him to drop one of his weapons. He could hear the other Banite chanting, and then the cleric was interrupted, as a wolf jumped from the shadows and knocked him down. The battle was over relatively fast, with Calowyn and his pet wolf victorious.
Calowyn then drug the unconscious Banite out of the caves....
