  • Slave auction.

Rumor has passed around the Thayan enclave that a woman by the name of Lauan is up for sale. She is a fine and obedient warrior, and winner of the Masters Fight Night!

A blind auction will begin tonight, bidding begins at 10000 Stag. All inquiries must be directed to Krang Mortenson of the Thayan enclave.

    Or by email to Nickbeat.

Lauan follows Krang into the Thayan enclave and sits on the floor until told to do something else.

Lauan looks like she might start crying at any minute.
Lauan - knight of Thay " I have no fear, and death is merely an inconvenience to me. I do not die until ordered to do so, I do not fall until every last bit of life has left me. I stand tall, proud, a Thayan knight."

*Coming from his room in the inn after an excruciatingly long night of tormented dreams, Kyprios Casse overheard two patrons at the bar joking about Lauan's auction. As each began to explain in all too graphic detail their intentions, Kyprios ran back to his room, a mixed look of hatred and determination on his face. Only a few brief moments later he came rushing back, sword and coin purse in hand, and went charging out the front door. Within hours various pamphlets and parchments were circulating around the city, all of which begging others to join with him in an attempt to prevent Lauan from befalling such a fate.*

With DM permission, Kyprios would form a band to break Lauan free. Please send a private message to Steel505

*Edit* As Kyprios has recollected the papers (see below), please consider whether or not your character would have heard of his attempts, and, if they have heard, how that came to be and how they plan to contact him, knowing he's now being watched. Thanks.

The notice is very clear about Thayan law regarding slavery. Anyone guilty of raiding and stealing the property of a Thayan citizen will be guilty of crimes against Thay.

Kyprios curses, bound to follow the law, but equally bound to prevent such a horror. Recollecting the papers he issued, he secretly vows not to give up, to find some way to help this poor Lauan. He thought of paying for her freedom, but after the long voyage to Sundren and the stags he owed a scribe, Kyprios could do little. He also pondered searching for help in a less public fashion, but the obvious attention the Sundren authoriteis are now paying him would make that nearly impossible.
For now, he simply broods, forced to wait for some opportunity to present itself.

Quelistyra makes haste to find her father to tell him the news of a human woman being auctioned off at the Thayan Enclave....She finds him sitting under and old oak tree heavily engrossed in a dark leather-bound book.."Father may i have a word with you??Dar'Kane raises an eyebrow never taking his eyes off the contents of the book and answers her question with another question.."What is it now my dear child?"Father,i have word of the Thayan Enclave selling a human girl."looking unconcerned and a bit peeved,Dar'kane slams the book closed and gives his daughter slight smile..."And?" Quelistyra began telling her father more about the girl, about how they fought together and that her battle prowess was more than mediocre."But the thing is with the girl father,is she is none too bright,no schooling,no history, the girl doesnt even know her age!!" So let me guess, you want me to buy this human for you?"What will you do with her Quel, walk her around on a leash?"The daughter gives her father a very cross look and replies with venom behind her words..."I shall do whatever i desire ...father,and i will pay half of what she is worth!"Very well...i will consider it..Now leave me be before i change my mind!"
"Feel the fervor growing, but the hate is stronger. My heart was whole with you,but the pain was mine."

A tall man with a dark beard came to visit Krang Mortenson in his temporary office within the Thayan enclave, "When will the girl be mine Krang!" he demanded, "I have plans for her."

Krang simply responded, "Bidding for Lauan will end this Sunday, and the highest will take her as their prize. Currently you are the highest bidder, but that may change..." The bald wizard smirked at the thought of all the gold he would soon have.

He really would prefer that she not be sold to this particular bidder, for he was quite proud of her and knew this man would like destroy her. His last few experiments had run afoul, and had to be destroyed. Granted, she could turn into a quite remarkable warrior should his transmutations be successful.

Skeld glanced into his money purse upon hearing the rumour and sighed, such a paltry amount of coin would not stand a chance of buying the woman.

Little dwarf enters the Thayan enclave in haste. By the entrance:

"Where's he? I've offer for him, I must to see him, show me .. you .. ", talks to guard, ".. where can I find his office?", unpockets some coins.
"Whom are you talking about, master dwarf?", answers man coldly.
"Him! O .. I know .. his name, where .. where I've the name ..", starts looking for something in his pockets," .. damn piece of shi .. aa ..", says triumphaly, ".. here! Krang Mortenson! I need him to talk!"
"Why?", keeps the guard the same cold sound in his voice.
"The slave, the woman for sale. I want to buy her!"
                    "Well, you mean the auction?"
                    "Yes!",
                    nods impatiently.
"I'll show you his office, master dwarf."
                    , answers guard coldly.
"O .. we must hurry, lead me! No wait!", stops the man.
"Yes, master dwarf?", turns the guardian back to dwarf.
"The GOODS, is it in good condition? Strong and healthy?"
"You'll have a chance to get a load of her.", answers man.
"OK .. show me the way!"

Upon hearing of the notice, Yashia couldn't help but remember how sorry she felt for the girl when she first found out that Lauan was being used by this man named 'Krang' without even realizing it. She hadn't trusted the man in charge of the young human woman one bit and felt a presense of darkness within him as they had spoken. Yet, he was more clever with words than she was herself, so she had been unable to get anything incriminating out of him. Lauan had blindly given Krang her trust and now he would just sell her because she wasn't of use to him any longer.

Yashia was abhorred by the whole matter, but at the same time she saw a chance to do what she had wanted to accomplish through diplomacy at first by other means now. She sighed... Such coin in the hands of a tainted spirit would surely be used for malign purposes, but he would get what he wanted even if she did nothing and then perhaps Lauan would end up in even worse hands. After a moment of doubt, Yashia went to the temple of Waukeen and claimed her savings. She would try, for what it was worth. And the freedom of an innocent individual was priceless.

She travelled to the Thayan enclave to find this Krang. With a stern look on her face, she handed a note with her offer over to the Thayan slaver. Ignoring the hateful burning eyes of the knights and wizards prying in her back, she walked away once more. Not saying a word.

Krang smiled at the bounty of offers that had been coming in. "That stupid girl truly was a great investment," he proclaimed quite proudly. Of course, he was not proud of her but of himself for his clever business sense.

James overhears some adventurers talking in hushed voices about the rumored slave auction.

"Slavery? It seems that the more I learn about Thayvians, the less I like them! What a horrible existence slavery must be. What's worse than the Thayvians are the people who would bid on this horible affair. It's hard to believe that this land would permit such a thing to happen."

Lauan is quite the hot commodity! Everyone appears to be interested in her, so the auction will happen in one weeks time. Details to be posted in the Thayan review.

OOC: hoping to find a good time for all interested parties to come for the auction, so express interest here. I will post more of a good time soonish.

Little dwarf's carefully listening to a small group of citizens talknig about the auction:

"A slave for sale? O ... I think I should try to buy such a slave too.", says a noble woman to another.
"Do you think, my dear friend?", answers a very good looking lady.
"Of course, I've heard that it's the latest fad in Amn! I need one too!", says the woman keenly.
                              "Sweet!"

A dwarf looks a little angry and happy at the same time. After a short thinking he talks to himself: "Well If I'll not get this one nothing happen ... I should contact my old duergars friends ... hmm ... I feel a real great business in the air, YES!"

OOC: I'm not able to say the right date I'll be in - my job does not allow to me. I'll try to be in and if not, would it be possible make it like I've sent some bidder instead of me? I'll send you my offer.
