  • The Misadventures of Carmella

A gleefully laughing, though sweaty and obviously exhausted Carmella Brendt idly wanders over to a Sundren Militiaman in the Trader Tier.

"Oh man," she says in between both chuckles and wheezes, "I envy your job so much right now."

She continues on before the militiaman has a chance to continue. "Tell me, guy, I gotta know. Do the criminals in this town lock themselves up? I mean, seriously!"

Carmella pauses for a moment to catch her breath; she looks briefly as though she's about to cough, but instead, carries through with talking.

"So there I was, yeah? Just idly walking down the trader tier when this dark-skinned white-haired woman and her flatnosed-boyfriend pull me aside."

"She greets me by telling me that I smell and that I look sick. That a common occurance, here, guy? Pretty weird greeting if you ask me."

She leans on the wall awkwardly and ease her balance.

"Anyway, long story short. She was dumb enough to introduce not only herself, but the name of her no-doubt elusive and mysterious organization. Yeah, in the middle of a crowded street. With witnesses not three feet away from the ordeal!"

Carmella wiggles her fingers for emphasis.

"So, then, when she realizes it's not possible for her to win a battle of wits against me, she pulls a freaking knife out on me and begins walking towards me like she's going to slit my throat."

"Yeah, though. Anyway, her name? Can't entirely remember. Something obscure and wacky though, yeah? Probably had a bunch of Xs or Zs in it. She had dark skin, though, white hair, and an eyepatch. Claimed to be the leader of some generic-sounding group or whatever."

Carmella pauses for a moment in contemplation; which is promptly interupted by a coughing fit of absolutely epic proportions. She brushes her disheveled hair out of her face, and continues on.

"Yeah, though. The black guard? The rose guard? I mean, seriously, if she's a member of their organization I'm pretty sure that they're nothing more than a collection of pre-teens going through a rebelious streak or something. You know how kids can be, yeah?"

She points at the officer knowingly, shrugs, and continues blabbing some more.

"Anyway, you know more than enough to handle this situation, yeah? I mean, sheesh, she gave me her name, with witnesses. Mella out."

Carmella idly wanders off. She doesn't get more than a few feat away before having another coughing fit, this one obviously more painful than the last. Tasting something weird in her mouth, she brings a finger to inspect it; finding there to be a thin layer of blood coating the insides of her mouth.

Before she can wonder how that all got there, Carmella begins emptying the contents of her stomache on the nearest building, and promptly faints in it.
