((This thread is the mages meeting. In order to attend you will be required to cast two different arcane spells (cantrips will do) and show some knowledge of spellcraft (no specific DC, but you will be asked the basics). Before the meeting Z'huul will ask all those who plan to attend to prepare their best sensory spells such as blindsight, See invisibility, Clairvoyance/Clairaudiance and True seeing, these will be cast just before the meeting begins. If you wish to try and bypass these precautions, find a DM and ask them if you succeed, if you do not, then DO NOT read the rest of this thread, as you will not be there in character and it will be Metagaming.
Thank you for your cooperation.))

Z'huul steps to the front of the crowd after everyone has made their qualifications known. In his familiar monotone, his face blank he says "Greetings my brothers and sisters in the arts arcane. I am Z'huul, former apprentice to Dworkin, and it is my privilege to welcome you to this meeting and to lay the groundwork for our discussion."
"As you know, there currently exists no mages guild or other organization to provide education and support to those like us who plumb the depths of the arcane. Several of us here are of the opinion that such a group would be of mutual benefit and that if one does not exist we should take steps to create one."
Still standing motionless, he continues; "To begin the meeting I wish to make four proposals that I suggest we debate first, after that we can move on to whatever other matters those present wish to bring up."
"First, I propose that the only qualifications for membership be a proven ability with arcane magic, as we determined when you all arrived tonight and that you are not a wanted criminal. I feel that to include criminals in our ranks will result in the immediate outlawing of our association by the local authorities and believe this last requirement is a necessity.
"Secondly I propose that to maximize the amount of arcane knowledge shared, and to provide the most benefit to our members all magical items shall be provided to members of the group for the cost of materials to make them. In the case of demands for unusually powerful items or unusually large quantities of items, an appeal could be made to the group leadership and they could grant leave to ignore the request."
"Thirdly I propose that members share information about the arcane, about sources of arcane knowledge and spells freely amongst themselves, and help other members to pursue their owns studies when practical. I also suggest that we ensure that novices seeking instruction in the arts arcane do so with a member of our group. The exact terms of payment from coin, to indentured servitude and apprenticeship to a master would be a matter of negotiations for the parties involved." ((OOC note we would provide a RP reason for those seeking to study the arcane to add levels in arcane classes and I think this would be a good thing))
"Lastly, I propose that the organization protect and aid members when they are in danger, and regularly check upon our members with divination magic to ensure that they are safe. If they are not, measures should be taken to rescue them if alive, and to recover their body if dead. In the last extreme, if practical, the organization should attempt to have the member raised from the dead. I feel the need to add that 'if practical' is dependent upon a source of funds to buy the diamonds necessary for the return of the member. If these are not provided by the member or their friends, some means of raising funds will have to be found to provide for them, or else they will simply remain dead."
Still an expressionless void he finishes; "Lastly there is a minor matter, the organization will need a name, I myself have no particular preference, so I leave it to the rest of you to debate. I encourage you to take up these points I have mentioned before pursuing different questions, so that we may have some solid basis to work from."
"I thank you my fellow brothers and sisters in the art" Here he bows and yields the floor.
((anyone who wants to, start commenting, please try to stay on topic, and keep this to a single thread instead of multiple threads, thank you very much for your time and participation. One more thing, at some point I will declare the meeting "OVER" at that point you may begin to freely RP the results, I would suggest we try to keep this to a few days discussion at most.
