The Year of Wild Magic

At first I was suprised to be send towards the lands of Sundren. The fact that I was send alone, as an Emissary of The Lady, stumbled me even more. Talona's influence seem to be very little amongst the people that live in and around Sundren City.

As expected upon my arrival my presence became immediatly shunned, so at first I tried to gain respect through intimidation. This proofed to be a wasted effort, and I slowly came to understand why my be?ng was needed here. Talona's influence is so little that she is feared nor respected enough, she's just ignorantly hated.
I have learned the basics of her teachings and am yet to master many more.
I now see that by establishing a base of belief down these lands my primary goal is set.
My second goal of course be to search for new kinds of posion and diseases.
This will be my ordeal, but I wished they had send more with me to furfill this task.

I have found many people to gather around the tradepost set up by the exigo syndicate. This will be the base of my operations. I will present myself as an Apothecary in service of Talona. Services that ,of course, will come at a price. This way people will slowly come to acknowledge Talona's presence I hope. If only a strange disease could strike, to draw the herd. I saw a few of their watersupplies that were not well guarded, maybe i could have a hand in spreading such disease if really needed. But for now I should avoid suspicion as much as possible.

As for my second objective, to find and research new poisons and diseases, I have yet to find anything of real usefullness. I found some diseased rats and poisoneous spiders, down at the sewers of Sundren. But the sickness the rats carry was of a simple kind and the glands of the spiders contained not enough poison to make decent poison or medicine from.
I now occasionally wander towards the viridale forest to examine the wildlife population.
As of yet I have to find a diseased specimen, at this point I would even be content with a rabies infested rabbit.

The findings of my research and the development of Talona's influence down these lands will be further noted down this diary, so my fellow believers may one day learn from it.

I cannot longer stay at the Tradepost, I have been assaulted several times now. The guards at the post pretended not to have seen a thing when the attacks happened. To keep doing my work I have to avoid conflict wich can cause me my life.
I currently have found refuge in a nearby forest called Viridale where I will continue practising my teachings. One day perhaps, under Talona's guidance, I will find a way to revenge myself upon that tradepost.

It has a been a few days now since I made camp down in the Viridale forest. I came upon some temporary companionship down the forest, creatures who did not seem to bother bout the beliefs I follow.
It was with that group I encounterd my first real intresting discovery down this forest. While we were wandering, we suddenly got ambushed by a horde of undeath. Their corpses filled with disease, hungry for our flesh, they attacked mercilessly. We were able to fend of their assault after a good deal of fighting. Normally I do not like to have dealings with the undeath, but in this case something odd got my attention and intrest. The group seemed to be led by some devious looking lady, one who we could not catch up with and seemed to dissapear in thin air when we came close. After parting with my companions i decided to investigate the bodies of the fallen undeath, the disease and poison I found they were carrying made me wonder if that lady was doing Talona's bidding too in some way. I will investigate this matter some more and I can only hope for her to reappear.

I have started experiments on the local wildlife. Using a simple binding spell, and then injecting them with various Diseases. I do not kill the beasts I can incubate succesfully, they are set loose to spread the dissease they carry.
However, during one of my experiments I almost came to loose my life. I Was conducting research on a paralyzed dire badger when suddenly I got assaulted by a Dire Bear. The gigantic beast just jumped on me from some nearby bushes, it must have been prowling for quite a while since i didn't notice it's presence at any point. A fierce battle occured in wich I got heavenly wounded, his paws and viscious bites were about to get the best of me. It was when Pathosis got his attention I was able to cast a binding spell, wich fortunatly connected. I decided to finish the bear cause it's primal rage would overcome the incantation soon. Thereafter I infested the fallen bear's body with various sorts of maggots, wich I will use for further research. The body now lies near an old ruin, I will daily visit it to see it's progress.

As if Talona herself was guiding me, today in the forest I came in contact with one of Illmater's priests. A young yet powerfull lady going by the name of Sabine. After I found out she was doing Illmater's bidding I decided to infect her, making her an intresting subject. I would have loved to see if her precious deity would be able to help her overcome Talona's kiss. However my plan got disturbed when another traveller named Lyess crossed our paths right before I was able to take action. Already weakend in spells it was unwise to take on two foes. A group of gnolls and goblins ambushed us wich gave me the opportunity to fight at the side of the one called Lyess. I did so to gain at least some of her trust back, misplaced trust that may be but I'd rather not have a hunting party trying to seek me out in order to slay me. Especially now that I am making vast progress with my research. After the fight I retired myself from their company and decided to head back to camp to rest up. Another intresting day it turned out to be.

Things starting to stir down this forest for sure.
Today I went to see the rotting bear corpse. The maggots were doing their work eating away the last remains of what once was a dreadfull dire bear. The plants near the corpse started to rot too, things were going as expected. But it was when I made way towards my camp my most intresting discovery occured, one that almost cost me my life once again.

While heading back I noticed an area of the forest that was clearly under Talona's influence.
The trees where disseased with some strange sickness. I was investigating them when one of the trees started too move a bit. Suddenly I realized it was a treant, and it appeared to be in a blighted state. You can imagine that even I felt some exitement on this discovery. I tried to reason with it but alas my powers are not vast enough yet. It instead lashed out at me and even the combined powers of me and pathosis where no match for this dreadfull denizen of nature. I fell, ready to embrace death, but the higher powers decided otherwise.

Instead I woke up in a nearby fort, appearantly some patrolling guards had found my body and dragged it back to their camp. My honor was a bit scarred, knowing that such creatures were the reason I was still allive. I went back to the forest as fast as possible, but the treant I have yet to find again. In the meantime I started to research the disseased trees in order to find the origin of their sickness. I hope i'll find my answers soon.
