  • Tale of a Talon

The Talons are a organization based upon the simple principle that those who oppose the Matron Mother or Kin of respectable allegiance should be disposed of carefully. They are rarely openly hostile yet they find ways of making their intentions known yet without extraordinary means there is merely ever a trace of their doings left behind. Amongst this group of Talons is the little-known Xen'ur. He is amonst many of the order yet his travels have brought him to Sundren's more populated regions. His reasons for being amonst those who rarely harbor the sort of blood he protects are known only to a rare few and himself.

Xen'ur holds no traceable sign that he is part of the Talons yet he does seem to have a deep admiration for those of "greater" blood in his opinion.

He rarely finds his way into highly populated discussions, or activites but when the need or opportunity of personal gain are at stake there may often be signs of his involvement.

    The Loyalty of a Child

Kneeling down away from the bustle of the trading post Xen'ur bows his head and speaks a prayer to Tiamet, the Mother. With his right hand he extends his index finger, upon which glimmers the silver shine of a talon-like extension. He moves the finger up to his chest and pulls from beneath his scale-plate armor shirt a necklace with a symbol of Tiamet upon it. Looking down at it he wraps it tightly between his hands and feels the warmth of it between his hands. He kneels in respect for his mistress and bows his head. Smiling slightly to himself he begins his prayer ((The Picture attachment will show this)). After completing his prayer he rises steadily to his feet and takes a look around, knowing full well the threat of openly praying to Tiamet. He tucks the necklace back below his scale plate and pats it gently with a gloved hand.

"You forever reside between my heart and your enemies."

Taking a look around he notices a small boy cowering in a crevice between two rocks. It is evident by the expression on the boys face that he over-heard the draconic tongue which Xen'ur's entire prayer was spoken in. Offering another quick gaze about Xen'ur approaches the boy slowly, trying to appear as unthreatening as a 6'8 man with a greataxe on his back can look. He offers out his hand to the boy and speaks calmly and soothingly.

"Do not be afraid boy. For the Matron Mother offers salvation for the weak." Taking the boys hand he lifts the boy quickly and hard to him. With a sudden movement he twists the boy to him and wraps a hand over the boys mouth and nose and holds him tightly. With his free hand he extends the talon-like extension on his glove and brings it swiftly and hard across the boys throat. Splitting it open with ease. Hearing the boy gurgle his last few gasps of hope away Xen'ur holds the boy till there is no doubt he is dead. "The mother will bring you new life when she feels you are worthy." Tossing the boy out and down into the ditch he makes sure of no witnesses and heads off back towards the bustle of the trading post and vanishes into the crowd without a murmur of distress from anyone.
