Entry #78:
Twice now, the experiment has worked. I had scarecly believed it possible when I stumbled upon the application of the magic so many thought to be dark and "evil". Such a term, applied to a force seems unreasonable, when considered. A force, Magic, simply is. The intent of the wielder and the application of the force can be evil, but the force itself is not. Just because a force is more suited to destroy or take away does not mean it cannot be used for other purposes does it? Just as a flame can be made to give warmth on a dreary and cold day instead of destroying all it touches, so too can a force thought only evil be turn upon its common purpose to be used as a tool.
It was with this thought that I had set out to explore the different applications of the Magic of Death. For without Death, Life springs forth, and where Life withers, Death creeps in. Necromancy is the control of the forces of Death; as many understand it. However few see how it can be bent to the good of the people. In my studies of animating the lesser creatures with my false souls, I had found that a sort of life can be created through purpose and Will. To hold back Death from a shell of flesh creates a vacuum which forces life into the void. This method resulted in far more success than my original attempts, and in comparison made them look like the work of a child so far advanced it was. I look now upon the creature within the cage, and marvel at the accomplishments I have made with it. It has been dead twice now. Cold and still, and twice the power which I seek to master has brought it back from the edge. It is not an exact science however, and the stipulations of its success are carefully noted within my tomb. The window of opprotunity is fleeting and I must be quick and precise in order to take advantage of it. But it is there.

Along with my understanding of this application, I have also recorded within my tomb an alternate use of the Soul Web developed for creating replica souls for the shells I animate. As I was casting it I felt it strike something else. Something nebulous, fleeting, lithe. I withdrew and tried again, this time pulling the Weave into a nearly non-existant net, light and tremulous, and instead of passing through the disturbance, it held. I exerted my Will upon it and parted the glamour that hid its form. I found myself facing a soul, proper. A lingering shade of some long-dead peasant or farmer. As I saw it, so too did its lifeless gaze settle upon me. It made as though to speak, but I could hear nothing. I have set out to refine my net so as to either empower the soul beneath it, or link it to my own senses in a way as to allow me to percieve that which I find. I must find a way to do this that will not drive me insane though, as speaking with a soul long dead may drive one insane if not properly prepared. The potential knowledge, however, may be immesurable.
Entry #80:
A curious thing has happened. My latest animation seems to have acted on its own accord and impulse to outside stimuli. This has caused me great joy as it seems possible that the learning functions of the brain of the shell may remain in tact once the shell has been animated. Why this has occured now instead of any other time is still a mystery, but I will focus on this aspect exclusively for the time as it could prove an enormous boon to any such animations in the long-term.
