  • Rooks Funeral

Walking to the various cities and towns with a small stack of little cards, Tes tacks them on each of the notice boards. Softly she sighs placing each one. To those who take the time to stop and read it says:

"To those who it may concern, the Funeral for Lyonette "Rook" L'Cyir is planned to be held in the Temple of Kelemvor, on the fourth day of this week, one hour past the sundown. If interested to come and pay your respects in the memory of one of our fallen companions, please do not hesitate." -Tes Priestess of Kelemvor.

A Printed skeletal hand upright holding balanced scales is in the bottom corner of the card.

((Weds 26th 7PM Eastern Standard Time. I?m hoping that this time works out. If there?s a big problem please PM me))
Sacrifice everything as the final darkness falls... in the end, all that awaits you is death. Only then will you understand - you've been following in my footsteps all along.
So come then, you heroes! Come in all your power and glory! For in the final hour, all must serve the one... true... king.

Quietly she sat on the side steps inside the church. Justiciar Ankten stood with some ledger viewing the two side rooms. His head gave little bobs as if he was counting things. Soft prayers echoed the halls. In her hands, Tes held Rooks helm, looking deeply to it.

Time kept passing, yet no one was showing up. she sighed with disappointment. By this time, Justiciar Ankten was done and stood watch, his old gaze staring to the necropolis.

"What troubles you child?" he said with a soft tone.

"It was Rooks Funeral today, so many said they would come. Only one said they couldn?t make it, but she at least gave a written thing for me to say on her behalf. Atleast its good to know the true colors of the people who said they care and will come; yet don?t show up. Bunch of liars really. ." Tes's tone was flat and stern.

Ankten nodded slowly to her, as if showing he knew exactly what she meant. His gaze turned back to the fortified window looking. Tes pulled out the letter from one of the folds of her robe and stood.

"If you could Justiciar, bury this note with the helm, I would appreciate it. Feel free to read it, might make you smile for once, you know, getting to see someone care for her unlike the liars." she walks out of the church and headed back to the hills, fishing rod in hands.

Carefully he set the helmet down and looked at the letter. His eyes scanned at reading it to himself:

"It saddens me to be unable to attend the memorial service of a dear friend this day, but of all that I have known, I believe that Rook would understand that duty comes first. Throughout my friendship with her, I have never known someone so dedicated to the call of duty and necessity, someone concerned with the safety of the land and its people above all other concerns. If this, for nothing else, we should look back on Rook's life and see what we can learn of our own path.

Rook never hesitated to tell the truth as she saw it; she was an honest woman, of the sort that is rarely seen in these days and times. She cared little for hurt feelings if what she had to say was right -- and, more often than not, it was. Though her manner was at times harsh, she never ceased to look out for her comrades and friends. I keenly recall her coming to me several times with a request for a rescue operation, even if the person in question had been -- well -- an idiot.

As a lieutenant, Rook was faithful, obedient and forthcoming about her recommendations in my command. As a commander, Rook took on a number of challenges that were not of her making, and rose to the occasion, becoming a fine leader and true example to all who would follow the Red Knight. Rook was a friend to me through one of the most harrowing experiences of my life, and I do not care to speculate what might have happened if she had not been able or willing to support me.

Today, it is well for us to both celebrate the life of, and mourn the loss of, a woman who was a knight in every sense of the word. Rook, may you find satisfaction in the struggles of Warrior's Rest; you have earned your peace. We will miss you."

He folded it back up and took the helm. For the smallest moment, the ever-slightest smile took his face. Carrying the note and helm, he went out towards the back door of the church.
