  • Darren Bridge ( Clutch )

Name: Darren Bridge ( First name.. not yet totally sure )
    Class Rogue

Short history & Basic idea :

Darren Bridge is simply a trader with ambitions. He is a relative charismatic man, and more likely to sell you a torch then to light your fire. He's the younger brother of the two in his family, but clearly influenced by the troublesome elder, Derreck. From him he gained most of his knowledge of all that is unholy by the rule of the guardsmen. He headed out with Derreck numerous times, snatching anything that was easy to find and take. But of course, it had to go wrong at least once, he wasn't there.. but he received word his brother was caught while wandering about.

After his sibling returned from prison he didn't dare to scheme anything including thievery, burgling and such illegal activities anymore. No way he wanted to turn up in there, at the mercy of a couple of chains, one man and hot iron. Derreck was lucky enough not to lose his hand for thievery that time, only got caught for lock picking he said.

He stayed that way, working at a butcher shop later on to make his money. But it sort of had him annoyed after a while, he didn't like to work at the same place every day. He rather be on the road, as dangerous as it may be. But he couldn't, it was way too risky to change his way of life. After all he was certain of a safe existence this way. But as the years past his frustration only grew greater every day, till the moment he lost it and in a rush of adrenaline ran home.
He gathered some belongings and headed out to see the rest of the country side, not having much of a purpose, perhaps he was able to find some work as a messenger. Anything to take him on the road. In the back of his head wondering where he could find just that one thing; Improvement.

I'm not completely done with it but I think it may provide a solid base as to start with. In short he had a normal life, but his brother turned out to be a thief, and as all little brothers do he followed the big one. Only until his brother messed up, returned scarred, and he didnt want to go through the same thing. Tried living a everydays life but wasn't cut out for it, he headed out for something that suited his taste.

The basic idea is to create a roleplay rogue more then a combat rogue. He may be fair but has his dark sides, he can handle a thing or two in the field so to speak. But of course I like to adventure with people aswell so I've given him 'decent' abilities to do that. I hope I can make him someone to present opportunities to other players aswell, roleplay wise. Giving out tasks to others, spicing up daily things, you know the kind. We'll see how that works out. He isn't all about chatting, he can handle a thing or two in the field so to speak.

    Deity:
Tough one, I don't know much about the gods. One reason why I will not play him as overly religious as his nature. A little faith is okay, but he's not a priest Any suggestions ?

    Alignment:
Neutral/Chaotic Neutral: I'm still pondering over this one, I think I may start off by being Neutral and see how he shapes by the people he meets and the situations he gets in. I don't totally like to stick to one extreme from first go.

    Skills & Feats

    Charisma of 14
    Wisdom of 14
    Intelligence of 14

These three would respectively explain his charismatic abilities, such as bluffing. His perception & intuition, such as dealing with people. And his mild ability to deal with anything technical, such as locks.

Background feat: None, I just dont like them.

Roleplay Skills: Appraise, Bluff, Diplomacy, Intimidate, UMD,
Adventure Skills: Disable Device, Hide, Move Silently, Open Lock, Search, Tumble, UMD.

His skill point distribution may be altered by certain impacts, but I doubt it.

    Feats:
    Silver Palm ( +2 Appraise, Bluff & Diplomacy )
Nimble Fingers ( +2 Open Locks & Disarm Traps )

I really wonder how the social skills ( Such as Bluff, Intimidate and such ) are handled in this world. Will they mean something ? I quess they will towards a DM, but I also wonder how they work on NPC's. Not demanding anything, just in the dark about them

Help & suggestions are highly welcome, especially in the context of this world since I haven't read every single bit yet. Thanks in advance

Those roleplay feats will come in handy when you are rping with other players as well. We have installed the DMFI tool and you can make skill rolls at a click of a button. As to using them against NPC's, this I'm not totally sure of at this point...but I'd spend a few points in them anyway.

Overall your character sounds interesting. Its nice to see a rogue who isn't evil...a perfect example of honor amongst thieves or so to speak. I like how you are starting him off as neutral, then going with the flow and seeing where that leads...it will be a most interesting journey.

Your charisma, int, and wis are also decent...its nice to see a character who isn't min/maxing for combat. I'd give him a decent dex too if I were you as that is the core ability for rogues. All in all, very interesting character concept.

Certain NPC conversations will have branching paths based on intelligence and certain skills in the future. It's just a matter of getting them implemented.
        -Harbinger of Justice

Death:"Humans need fantasy to be human, to be the place where the falling angel meets the rising ape."

        Woman: "Tooth fairies? Hogfathers? Little--"

Death: "Yes. As Practice. You have to start out learning to believe the little lies."

Woman: "So we can belive the big ones?"

Death: "Yes. Justice. Mercy. Duty. Things of that nature."
