  • An attempt at aid

James mused at his desk, brooding over the most recent news brought by one of his valued customers. The city was grounded - badly, and the reactors were unstable - either from sabotage, impact, or general misuse of the Sundrite-Conversion-Effect. The magnitude of collateral damage was enormous, and the potential fallout worse.

The scholar sighed. Netheril had been toppled by over-reliance on their legendary mastery of the arcane - and those who failed to learn from history were doomed to repeat it. However, those who did were suddenly in a position to capitalize.

He had left the State taken this job for a reason, and unfortunately times such as now were one of them. Lifting his letter-stamps from their ink-pad, multifaceted elf set to work.

In the days following The Fall, Mirakus Post finds its resident Artifax at his most industrious. Caravan drivers working with the Corporation are given competitive offers (and bonuses for priority delivery) for deliveries of stone and lumber to the Pit. Capable laborers and architects find themselves with tempting comissions to assist in reconstruction efforts. Mercenary contracts are posted with hazard pay to ensure safe and timely delivery and returns through the bandit-ridden Crossroads. Travelers and runners are queried for the survival or whereabouts of Captain Tidestrike, Custodian Dent, and countless other employees working at the Factory when the assault struck. And in his downtime, the Brass Elf of Exigo pokes around in the corporate warehouses, collecting and repairing what Slicers and Golems he can find.

Improving things was his specialty. A broken city-state was just another item to add to his list.

((Given that my playtime is limited, figured I'd participate via Forum-RP. Anyone passing through Mirakus after The Fall aught to feel free to drop input.

    Cheers,
    Kit))

James paced his office mentally, his thoughts traveling to and fro as he considered his next phase of action. Upon the desk before him was a map - one he himself had drawn - outlining routes and roads used by the caravans throughout the peninsula. The thin red and green lines crawled across the northern and southern sections like rampant angular tendrils, but the tradesman's view was fixated on one central loci. A few triangles to the south of the former and current location of Sundren City almost all the tracery merged across a singular hex, one of the most economically valuable areas this side of the Gate, and the sole property he had sought for some time: The Tradepost.

The land had been chosen well by the Corporation during its development, condensing the flow of trade and traffic through the prosperous market. But such a bottleneck functioned universally. If the supplies for rebuilding had any hope of arriving in Sundren City or the Northern Markets intact, the sector would need to be retaken. The guerrilla harassment on the caravans would need to be deal with at the source, and it would likely take a small army at least to simply keep the routes clear. Buckskull and his posse had infringed upon the flow of trade for far longer than was optimal.

Clearly the covert paths were hindered, and thus preparations would need to be made for a less nuanced approach. The Legion was no doubt hindered in their reach simply trying to maintain order, so it fell to others effect civility. Mirthful from his mental musings, the master merchant moved for his metalline marks.

Tyranus stumbles into the office, with a hunk of meat in one hand and his tea in another. He falls into one of the chairs and starts kicking off his muddy boots before tearing a bite into the meat and then chasing it down with a slurp of his tea. He tucks his chin and rolls it into his shoulder, using his beard to wipe his mouth before sliding his last boot off and looks to James.

"Whats with all these maps 'n such all over the table?" He says, using his hunk of meat as a pointer before returning it to his mouth to take another bite. "Is this all fer that job ye wanted me doin? It sure looks like a whole lot of trouble fer me and muh men. I hope Exigo is going to be paying well fer this little mission of yers. I'll have to pull some good men away from other tasks if we want this done correctly. How many do ye reckon we need and who else do ye have in mind to help us take these guys out?"

In the times when Hogar is back in Mirakus resupplying, he helps out with the aid attempts when and where he can before heading back to Aquor. He leaves a note in James' office at the Post, which would read as follows:

Mister Frazer, if there's any way I can help out with the aid works, contact me, and I'll be sure to lend a hand.
We can axe if we want to, leave that sword behind. Because your friends don't axe, and if they don't axe then they're no friends of mine.

Tyranus marks down Hogar's initiative in the aid project and marks it down on his portfolio and files it away in the Barrack's office. He intended to head back to Jame's office but he made a trip around the Post, inspecting the men at guard and the surroundings of the Post. He thought at something but after a short time he waved it off and made his way to the office.

"We should get started on that list of yers about whos gonna be goin in with me and me boys on this bandit hunt. I'll work on recruiting some more lads if I know who ye have and don't have on yer list. Hurry up James!" He shouts at the distracted elf.
