  • Listening to the People

River held the flyer in hand, reading over it in contemplative silence. Tyranus's posters gave her a chuckle- the dwarf had a lot of enthusiasm; what he lacked was a clue. But this fellow... this former Hand of Mundus? His words were powerful. Full of righteous indignation. His words shouted out against the status quo, against the powerful preying upon the weak. His words made no promises, offered no solutions- that was never his intent.

As he'd told her, that was her job.

She gave a sigh and lay the crinkled document down upon her desk, then went to make a cup of tea. River had a great deal of thinking, planning, and writing to do, beginning with arranging a "Town Hall" meeting. Aquor was little more than a village- there was no need to have grand debates between the candidates. What was needed was straightforward exchange between the people of the city, and the candidates they had chosen. The people had a right to know how each candidate intended to provide for the city's safety and well-being, they needed to know about things such as taxes, and public works. There needed to be discourse and dialogue about trade and industry.

River needed to offer the people of Aquor the chance to ask these questions. And, too, she needed to know how she was going to answer them.

It was going to be a very long night.
