Byrun approaches a small alter that lies on his Family's grounds. He reaches into a pouch and pulls out a wad of cloth. Carefully unwrapping the cloth, two wooden figurines are revealed. One is a small lion, painted blue. The other is in the likeness of a merchant ship. Both are well crafted and expensive with great attention paid to detail.
He places both of them in a metal bowl and douses them liberally with grain alcohol. Striking his flint and steel, the Noble sets his offering ablaze and watches the fire consume the figurines until there was nothing left but smoldering ash. He takes a bottle of Maiden's Kiss, a fine brandy imported from Cormyr, and uncorks it. He splashes some into the bowl, mixing the liquor and ash with his finger, forming a light gray paste. Bryun carefully draws a pair of moose antlers on the alter while praying silently that Beshaba keep those who wish him misfortune at bay.
After the ritual, Byrun returns to the Keep. He briefly checks in on River before he starts to prepare his blades and armor. Each blade is expected carefully, sharpened, and oiled. Each strap and bend in his armor is also given similar scrutiny and care before he dons it. Fastening his cloak he heads out the Castle gates toward Mirakus Post.
