  • Valen Oakenorc

    Race: Half-Orc
    Class: Ranger
    Allignment: Either NG or CG
    Diety: Thinking Melieki or another.

Something lumbers in the bushes, barely catching your eye.
What was nothing but the trees in fornt of you, bursts forth a towering half-orc. Bow in hand, and a bear in tow, he sniffs for a moment, as if catching your scent.
With a rather pleasant and intelligent voice the half-man smiles at you and says: "Bet you thought I was going to eat you eh?"
Valen is a ranger, and not your usual one. Smarter and wiser then most of his kind, Valen excels with both the blade and the bow.
How he became a Ranger is rahter vague but it's something he tries to explain to anyone who wishes to know. All he remembers is smoke, and what he describes as a beautiful wooden women during his childhood.
The rest of his time was spent among lush gardens and the forests, where he befriended or hunted the wilds.

Right, so this is just mostly my way of putting in a half orc to the place and loving it. I've always like the idea of keeping them true to a wild side of sorts, but not making them lumbering brutes or wanna-be civilised men. I find this race is sometimes the most under-used and/or under-rated, and I'd like to make Valen memorable without trying to be one of the afore-mentioned extremes.

Half-Orc is one of those things you just don't see enough of. Definetly will be happy to see this.
The very existence of flame-throwers proves that some time, somewhere, someone said to themselves, You know, I want to set those people over there on fire, but I'm just not close enough to get the job done.

Cool. I was just thinking, you know, we don't have enough rangers in Sundren... And then right after that, "What happened to all the half-orcs?". I've always had a fond spot for the "big and oafish but good-hearted" kind of character. Another character that'll be something interesting to see ingame.

A half-orc ranger is definitely a rarity. Can't say I've ever encountered one playing NWN 1 or 2. Plus he's intelligent and doesn't speak like a half orc either. Are you going two weapon fighting or archery?

Thinking Archery. It keeps with his attitude of not being orcish. Two weapon reminds me of...Drizzt, and I'm going for the ranger, not the warrior in soft armour.

I love this character. One of my favourites already.

Abigale has become good friends with Valen... I enjoy this character. Its like Abigale needs him around to do the more "chaotic things" that she isn't willing to do :P. Like whack drunk sailor chicks in the back of the head..

              had fun.

                Ah. *blushes*
I don't know what to say.
Er...I'll try not to let this get to my head heh. I just like playing here.

This is actually a fun idea and the furthest thing from a powerbuild.
Kudos for wanting to try this out.

I did play in a well known NWN1 PW where the most feared bounty hunter was a HO ranger who specialized in traps and archery... he was a memorable character and made that server's hall of fame. Looks like you're off to a good start.

Alt PC - Brevin Smoothands (meticulously groomed half orc bard swashbuckler... sort of... sings great, less fighting)
