    Minor Earthquakes Unnerve Sestra's Townsfolk
    No injuries, minor damage reported

The second earth tremor in two weeks hit the Sestra coast yesterday afternoon at 5:38 P.M. Witnesses described the tremor as "a slight earthquake lasting from five to ten seconds." The center of the disturbance was just off the coast of Sestra, and it was felt as far away as Mirakus Post.

    Dull Rumble
Yesterday's quake vibrated a number of homes and was followed by a slight, dull rumble. There were no reports of injuries. Some windows were broken, but no significant structural damages occurred.

The ground cracked just outside the Rusty Tankard, but it did not damage the building. Initial reports claim a geyser erupted from the crack, but that was quickly dismissed by the Guard as exagguration. Water still trickles from this crack, but it local experts say it is nothing more than a spring unearthed by the quake.

Doni Leetbeard, former professor of Geology at Sundren University, weighed in on the event. "The tremor was not severe and should not cause any special concern. However, the reoccurrence of small disturbances bears out his contention that 'we're working on a big one.' We may indeed be due for a major seismic event in this age."

Leetbeard has predicted that in the next four hundred years, Sestra will experience a major earthquake. In the meantime, he said, "we can expect small and moderate tremors which are nothing to be afraid of." There have actually been more disturbances than were felt, Leet pointed out.

    Speculation
Despite Leetbeard's best efforts, locals were quick to speculate the cause of the unusual earthquakes in Sestra.

"Fifty years, we never had a problem," said one citizen, who wished to remain anonymous. "The earth didn't even have a problem when them snakes came. But as soon as the Black Hand take over, this happens. Coincidence?"

Most locals, and this reporter, were quick to praise the Black Hand Guard for their swift response to the situation. Curfew was enacted quickly while order was restored. As a result of their efforts, no injuries or significant damage occurred.

Some former Chaunteans cited the "geyser" as an underground source for the quake. They speculate that pressure from an underground river may have resulted in seismic-like activity, and would explain the presence of the water near the Rusty Tankard.

While a divine explanation is highly unlikely, Leetbeard could not refute the possibility of an underground river causing the quakes.

In effort to quell some the tension of locals, Commander Korvus Tehk is seen speaking to citizens in the Rusty Tankard, the small town's primary gathering spot and center of much speculation. He urges the citizens to remains calm, that the event is not so uncommon and the Black Hand will see to their continued safety.

"Did ya hear about those damn quakes, seems they did a bit of damage there in Sestra," he said to Paddy. "I don't think I felt it, but maybe I was doing something important and didn't realize what was what? I wonder what in Brandobaris' silky pants is going on around that area? Maybe the miners hit too deep or something?"

*He looked over at Paddy, winked, then took a long pull at his mug.*
