Lot's of Garlic and Holy Water

After his recent encounter with what looked to him like a vampire, Thom has holed up in his room, stringing garlic around the windows, and over the fireplace and door. He also has a few bottles of holy water close to his bed, and has his familiar watch him as he tries, rather unsuccessfully, to sleep, his dreams full of vampires and magic-devouring elves....

Jaden timidly knocks on Thom's door, holding his nose at the stench of garlic. "Ish Dom 'ome?" He asks Thom's mother. She shakes her head and Jaden slumps his shoulders. Once Thom's mother is back inside, Jaden looks around, and takes a beetle out of his pocket. "Go gesh Dom an ashk whatsh wrong." The bettle skitters a bit, and crawls up to Thom's window, knocking on it with its horn.

....and sees that the room is empty, Thom having stayed in his room at the Sundren Comfort in Sundren City to keep his family safe.
