  • The exiled Knight

The light from the fire place flickered across the small dark room, Gerion sat in the only chair in the room, the smell of warmed wine filled the room.
Gerion repeated the words "Iron, Honor, Loyalty" as he removed the old bandages from his right arm, the wound had begun to fester with a loud sigh he got up from the chair, picked up a cup from the floor and headed to the small cauldron of boiling wine in the fireplace.
"what has the world come to, when a Frey has to live like this" he said out loud as he filled the cup, he headed back to the chair carefully placing the hot wine on the floor, before finding his knife and a small leather, after rolling the leather together he bit down on it, before he began removing some of the festering scabs from the wound, with a pained expression on his face he finished, and picked up the hot wine and poured it into the wound, his body twisted as the pain went through his body, the cup fell to the floor spilling the contents, he quickly wrapped some new bandages around the arm.

As he sat there his thoughts went towards his new life as a sellsword, several of the people he had met over the weeks in the Sundren, none had inspired much confidence or seemed worth working for in the long run.

Vorac the dwarven business man payed well enough, yet if he was worth serving in the long run, was still very questionable.

Al-Bah seemed smarter then any half orc should be, and he demanded a royal fee for is services from Vorac, although the two are funny together, the chances of them working together is very slim.

Most of the others he had met, had not made much impression on him as of yet, theyre names eluded Gerion most of the time.

He spat out the leather, as the pain slowly faded he looked around the room, "So this is how it is now" he said and shook his head, things could only go up from here he thought, as he tryed to regain his strenght and get up.

As Gerion sat there in the dark room, his thoughts returned to how his life was before he left Zazesspur, as a knight in the service of a lord.

Gerion thought of the how he in his youth served as a squire, before he was knighted, as a simple squire, he spent time caring for his sire's weapons and armor, life was simpler back then. I was alot faster and stronger back then Gerion thought and sighed, the smell in the room was rancid, now he had to deal with an aching back and a ill fitting armor, heavy sword and shield, not easy for a man his age to even keep up to the other's he had traveled with recently.

As the fire in the fireplace died, he finally managed to get up, and began donning his armor it felt heavier then usual, another night had passed and he still lived.

As Gerion left the inn room, he tossed a few of the strange copper coins known as stags, to the innkeep, and said "I'll be staying here awhile longer"
